If I run wires from my rear speakers to my amp that can handle speaker level inputs, will it take away power from my rear speakers to where I will hardly be able to hear them.
it shouldn't, no. tapping into the rear speaker lines should just get the signal that way, allowing you to run your rear speakers as normal, and run subs from the amp by getting the input signal from those lines you tapped into.
