...the total amps of my system. Just wondering if someone can calculate how many amps i am going over my current stock alternator which is an 81 amp. My system is max 900 watts rms total including the cd player. Can someone tell me how much i am going over if at all? thanx!!

you need to tell us the RMS ratings on all of the amplifiers in the system, and if possible the type or class of amplifier.

i have 2 401s RF amps, each 400 watts rms(underated each is actually around 420 in the rating sheet) and then my pioneer cd player is 50w*4 so i figured 50w MAX rms for that.

ok we'll say 900wRMS total.
you'll want an alternator around 100-120A larger than your stock model.
so, around 180-200A hot output.

best why to now is to try to burn the amp fuse each amp alone, you have to put, lets say if the fuse rate is 50A THEN TRY TO BURN 25A fuse until you will reach the limt if the limit is 40A FUSE then multi*2(2 amp same) = 80A alternetor ! got it?
