Infinity or audiobahn or another amp?

With extensive research i have narrowed my selection for a 4 channel amp to the following:

1. Infinity 7540a = $200+
2. Audiobahn a4004t = $140
3. Mtx Thunder 404 = $135
4. (all your recommendations)

Its going to be powering my stock infinity speakers (6 front including tweeters, 2 on back)on my car for now, but i am going to get some front components and coaxials for rear later...then a even more later some subs and an amp for them. I am doing it step by step.

Some features i have to have in the amp are speaker level input and preamp out for future sub. amplifier and a high/lowpass filter too.

are there others amps i should be looking at. I cant find any good review on either of those amps...but every thread i have read about audiobahns seem to be saying they are crap! the mtx looks ugly so i dont really want that, I like the infiinty but its signal to noise (81dB, i read 100db and up is good)and THD (1%)isnt as good as the audiobahn SO I M A LITTLE CONFUSED...

PLEASE HELP, THOSE WITH EXPERINECE
THANKS

Hey San, Audiobahn is like any other amp. They do make some crap models as well as some good ones. Those that give bad reviews usually had experiences with the cheap ones. I on the other hand chose NOT to buy cheap stuff. I went for their top model and it is nice. You get what you pay for. Do some research on different model/price range. I would agree with you on db level. 100 is much better than 81db. Have you seen MA Audio? If you select the proper model, it'll give you good bang for the buck.
BTW, if you talk to those that diss certain brands, ask them for a specific model. I keep asking them to be more helpful than something something sucks. That does no one any good.
FYI, the model that I bought is Audiobahn A4125HCT, it's a 4 channel 2000W rms amp. MA Audio also made a nice amp but it wasn't as good as this model.

Issac..it helps out plenty if you tell people what brand sucks...i mean if they know to stay away from the crappy brands than they wont buy em and leaving us with less stupid questions to anwer...I mean if you LOVE your audiobahn equipment so much and your sony.. then just come over and get in a REAL competition..i'm sure that you'd get blown away by anybody that dont have that cheap Sh!t like you and Audiobahn is cheap...

Hey BadAzzBowtie, I never said Audiobahn is great brand, I only mentioned the model that I bought. And if you read my posts, I never ever supported Sony. I hate those b*stards.
You have to keep in mind, not everyone can afford Rockfords/JL, US Amps etc. That is why I'm telling people about the models that perform well for their money. If I had lots of money to burn I would've spent few thousand dollars to get a decent amp.
Don't you think it's more helpful to the users if you gave specific example with your opinion?
And reguarding your challenge, you have to compare apples to apples to be fair.

Yo Isaac..When you can get a nice MTX amp or JBL that will perform better longer than an Audiobahn why tell people to get audiobahn when they could get somethin better for less or just a hair more.. and no i dont think its better..its better to tell em the truth...and tell em what sucks and you have supported sony in occasions..

Hey BadAzzBowtie, I think you got the wrong person. I can honestly say I never supported Sony. Why would I support the company I hate?
Anyways, I don't know about you but I did compare prices between MTX, JL, Rockford, US Amps, and Audiobahn. Rockford and Kicker had amps that were similar to Audiobahn but was outof my price range. I settled wth Audiobahn cause of it's nice spec, price, and overall performance. I'll keep you posted on how long it lasts. Before I bought the amp, I searched everywhere for test results and couldn't find any. That is why I decided to purchase one and evaluate.
Now who's being more helpful to users? Me or someone else just saying something sucks?
FYI, soon I'll be testing MA Audio amp too. I will only recommend products that I have used and tested. If you check all my postings, I always mention the model.
I'd like to one day find a Pyramid amp that's not made of glass (methaphorically speaking). They're cheaply priced and I know there are people on tight budgets.

well thanks for the advice...I think in all of my reading for every 1 good comment about Audiobahn i have read atleast 10 bad things. I used to think audiobahn was one of the top brands when considering car audio equip. (shows what i know and my friends who brag about them). Just to be safe I am going to stay away from audiobahn, i think.

The bidding for the Infinity ends in 5 hours, its at 192 right now, if it goes too high them i might just end up getting the audiobahn for $140 or the mtx, probably audiobahn.

Thanks for the advice and yes it does help when you say something sucks and can back it up or say its good and back it up also.

I am a computer guy so i can make this analogy: Nowadays intel and amd are both good companies and make GREAT CPUS! If someone asks me what to get i tell them get an equivalent AMD cuz you will save money, but you cant go wrong with either without getting into much detail.

BUT I DO TELL THEM DONT GET A CELERON OR YOU WILL FRY IN HELL!!!

is that what audiobahn is?? the celeron of car audio, if it is then i wont get it no matter how cheap...be serious with you answers cuz i am an audio noob and will take your comments seriously.

Thanks again

Hey San, I wouldn't say Audiobahn is like celeron in computer terms. It's more like a clone company that makes many types of motherboards, from low end to mid level. You can't expect to buy cheap model and demand high quality. That doesn't happen in computers, and same thing applies in amps. You get what you pay for. I heard lots of bad stores on Audiobahn amps just as you have, but the main reason why I chose my Audiobahn model was, it was fairly priced, had great spec, and it offered something the others didn't. Sure I found few amps that were similar, Rockford, Kicker, US Amps, JL etc. They were all $200 - $700 higher. It's always easy to tell someone to go buy JL/Kicker or Rockford amp when it's not their money.
What I've been trying to do is find an amp that's good in price and value for the average guys. So far I haven't found any negatives on Audiobahn A4125HCT. If I ever find something wrong with this, I will advice accordingly.
San I read up on some of the reviews on A4004T, it got good reviews. I didn't test that model so for now I don't have much opinion.
Have you read up on MA Audio HK597? That was my 2nd choice in 4 channel amp.

Audiobahn overrates their numbers.
and I wouldnt compare JL to Rockford these days.
If youre happy with the equipment youve bought.
then thats all that really matters.
I wouldnt recommend Audiobahn to anyone.
Their top of the line is low/mid-level of other companies, so the prices match up pretty well
if you think about it.

Hey BadAzzBowtie I know what you mean. I also didn't buy Audiobahn A4125HCT to baby it either. I'll be using it to the limit. I'll keep you and others posted. So far no complaints.
Just so you know, I couldn't find anyone that bought this amp, it was just too new so I had to buy and check it out.

Sorry to butt in, but I have an audiobahn a2200hct amp (1600 watts at 1 ohm) hooked up to an audiobahn aw1208t 12" sub (1500 watt rms, 3000 watt max) in a 2.5 cubic foot slot ported box with an audiobahn 1 farad cap and I think that it sounds pretty good. With the remote bass boost turned up 1/4 of the way up, I can get the wiper blades to vibrate. I have it in the trunk of my 01 Saturn L300, and its hooked up to the stock deck. You're all right, audiobahn isn't top of the line, but..., I think that it sounds really, really, good. Granted, you can get audiobahn subs on eBay for around $50.00, then again you can get most any brand on eBay for that price. You can't compare an 04 ford escort to an 04 Ferrari Enzo. Personally, I would recommend Audiobahn to anyone because I think that it sounds awesome, and I have had several people tell me it sounds like I have a whole trunk full of speakers.

That was the point I was trying to make. Not all amps are bad. There are some that product as stated. This is why we share our experiences so that others can learn. I think there was a guy named "Smartazz" or something that was actually making fun of me for recommanding certain model from Audiobahn and Jensen. If that guy ever took a time out and try/use a product before dissing everything, he'd actually look smart.

Reason i went with JL is b/c it wasnt too expensive and didnt really find anybad comments about JL equipments only praises.

Thanks for all the advice

Audiobahn A2300HCT amp to run 2 audiobahn AW1006T subs...all for $600. I have heard A LOT of car stereo and haven't heard anything that would really sound better. The stuff looks good, heav duty, lots of power (really what the spec says), and big magnets. The amps are powerfull, subs are clean, tight, with huge excursion. I own this, so I can tell you that it's good for the money!

That's odd, maybe most of the people bashing Audiobahn never used the HCT models?? I have A4125HCT. That is why I've been telling them that model was good.
I only recommend things I've tried and tested.

Hey i think it doesn't matter the make or model of the amp. i've had 2 shitty amps in my life time and they worked flawlessly, i know not the best sounding.. but they never broke down once. i just sold my cheap pyrimid 300 watt 4 channel amp on e-bay about a year ago. i had the amp for like 4 years and never stopped working.. I think it depends who installs it, if you do it yourself i'd say it's not a good job, unless you are a professionel.cause if any wire gets kinked or something could cause a backfire on the amp.. i installed my own amps, but next time having a pro do it. just cause it's easier, they know what they are doing, and your amp should work flawlessly. Also wondering these people who say this brand sucks, this brand is good is buying there amps new or used? if they buy a good amp used and it breaks down are you gonna say that make sucks or that amp sucks? just a thought. Also isaac, what do u know about MA audio amps or clif designs.. i've been looking at a few amps at a local store that carry these models. check it out at there sight. also what does .05 ohm stable tri-mode mean, is that any good? http://www.xscargo.com/product.php?dept=Electronics&cat=Car%20Audio&index=78%26i tem%3DCD660HC site here
