How much WATTS?

How much watts does my amp need to be if i want to run a 400 watt sub. and would my amp need to be mono or 2 channel coz i'm not quite sure what the difference is! please help!!!

is your sub 400max or 400rms?
is your sub dual voice coil or single and what ohm is it?

400 watts peak power
I think it's a dual voice coil
and it's 4ohm

if the sub is dual 4 ohm coils, and you have one sub, find a mono amp rated for the RMS handling of the sub @ 2 ohms.

Until you have a basic understanding of Ohm's Law, there's no very good way to answer your questions without confusing you.
