Are some component cables not progressive compatible?

I'm trying to run a Pioneer DV-578a DVD player on a Sony KV-34HS420 CRT. The DVD player is set to progressive output, but the TV will not let you select "progessive" or "cinemotion" when playing a DVD. It will only let you choose "interlaced."

Could this be a result of poor component video cable quality? I'm currently using some Acoustic Research AP091 component cables.

Any recommendations on other cables I should be using?

All cables are the same, except for small differences: gold plated/not, purity of conductor (almost irrelivant), brand name and price. Your TV simply doesn't support progresive.

are there any other video cables connected to the video input on the TV besides the component cables?
