How far are you from what you want to receive?
How many stations do you want?
FM /TV are line of sight. AM / ShortWave (SW) go MUCH further.
If stations you want come from more than 1 direction, look into a 'rotor'........big PAIN IN BEHIND> and expensive.

Generally, where allowed, the MORE / FURTHER stations you want, the BIGGER / PRICIER / UGLIER antenna you will need.

Live real rural? you may be SOL,
City Folks have it relatively EASY.

I'm having the same problem. When the wind blows I get alot of static. I have an inside ant. which leads me to beleave that it's a problem at their ant....Not so. (usually uhf) When the wind is blowing it creates an astropysical change that distorts the vidio sound waves but not the sound waves.
Any other info on this subject would be appreciated.
