I will be getting a MartinLogan Descent and hope to connect it using an XLR cable, but I need to know where to get a good high quality XLR, or what company to get a good XLR cable. I've heard a lot of good things about StraightWire cables.

Straightwire makes good cables.

There's also Kimber Kables and Blue Jeans. They are all good, different prices.

Interesting, ha you didn't post that long ago. Thanks I'll definitely take a look at those, and I only knew about straightwire since our local high-end dealer only uses straightwire.

Looks like I'm just going to have to listen to them for myself.

How much difference does a good cable make anyway!?}

Different schools of thought on that one. You have to decide for yourself. But do not get into any sort of debate over them...it is a conundrum of sorts.

The whole point of cables is signal transer I'd suspect so losing the least amount of signal possible would be the goal I presume. StraightWire has caught my eye and so I'm guessing I'm going to get more of those for all my equipment.
