Hi I am new here.

I have the following equipment:

Panasonic PT-AE900U Projector (HDMI)
Polk RM6900 5.1 Speaker System
Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVi (HDMI 2 inputs, one output)
Oppo DVD Player (DVI to HDMI)
Comcast HDTV/DVR Box (HDMI)

What is the best way to wire this setup?

I was thinking of the following:

Comcast HDTV/DVR Box - HDMI to Receiver
DVD Player, DVI to HDMI to Receiver
Speaker connect to Receiver
Receiver HDMI to Projector

I thought this should be fine. But I read many places people are having problem with the Comcast HDTV/DVR box which has HDMI output which does not work for a lot of people, mainly audio.

Could anyone please help me out on how to connect all these?

Thank you very much!

Sean,

When you hook this up, could you please, please post what you ended up with? I'm having troubles myself with the 74TXVi and HDMI from my DVD player, but I don't know if it's my receiver unit, the entire 74TXVi line, or my DVD (or it's entire line).

Thanks,

Mark

Here is the updated setup that works:

Comcast HDTV/DVR Box - Component to Projector (picture)
Comcast HDTV/DVR Box - Audio Optical to Receiver (Coax also works, but receiver manual suggested the optical)
Oppo DVD Player, DVI to HDMI to Receiver (picture)
DVD Player, Coax to Receiver (audio)
Speaker to Receiver
Receiver HDMI to Projector

The HDMI from Moto DVR box to receiver then to Projector does NOT work!

Hi Sean, I found and worked around my own HDMI problem; this might work for you too.

I used the DVD/LD input and assigned HDMI #1 to it, but I ALSO needed to assign a component video to DVD/LD to get HDMI working - even though the component video input is unused.

You might try something like that and see if you can get Comcast DVR DVI=>HDMI working...it still may not work. I'll know on Wed - I'm getting a Comcast DVR too.

Mark,
Thanks for the pointer. I think the DVD hdmi works fine. But the DVR box does not work. I look forward to hearing from you on the DVR box on Wed.

Ok, I tried it - doesn't work: the HDMI light comes on, but then I get a big blue box saying something about the HD content copy not right, then a green screen. I'm stuck with component out plus a toslink cable as well.

Yes, that's the solution I'm using - HD DVR => component + toslink => receiver, HDMI => TV.
