Pole Position: Remix Comes to iPhone, iPod

The classic 1982 arcade game has been reborn in a mobile iteration that offers five tracks, three ways to steer, and hidden Namco games within.

Rounding out the growing selection of racing titles for the iPhone, Namco on Tuesday released Pole Position: Remix for both the iPhone and iPod, an update on the classic 1982 arcade game. Like the original, the new title offers players Formula-One-style racing with 3D tracks, hazards, and computer opponents.

Besides leveraging the iPhone and iPod’s internal accelerometers for tilt-to-turn style steering, players can also touch an on-screen wheel to steer, or even use finger sliding with a tap-to-brake option for power slides. Deviating from the original, Remix will also offer a new track called Mikasi Point, new game modes, and themed graphics.
