I am setting up a home theater to run off my computer. This setup will have a 5.1 home theater speaker set in an adjacent room, in addition to my normal 4.1 PC speakers. Assuming I purchased a receiver that does not have A/B zone switching, would it be possible to install two sound cards on my computer, sending the output of the first one to my receiver and the second to my PC speakers? I want to have the ability to play music on all the speakers at once.

gl with that one. I say run your soundcard to an a/v receiver and then route the speakers. Save you alot of trouble but cost $$$

Yes, you can hve two soundcards in one PC. Eg, if you are a DJ, one for you, and one for the crowd.
