I am going to get a 2004 honda civic. I plan to put a 13w7 and a jl audio 1000.1 amp. Will i need to get a different head unit then the stock one? or will it not sound very good. I plan to get more then just the sub, but i havent made my mind up on wich other speakers to get.

you can use the stock unit at first, but ideally, I'd get rid of it and go to something with a good 4V pre-out line voltage, MP3 support, etc., and add a 4 channel amp and component speakers for an all around good system

someone is setting that W7 and amp in the amplifiers forum.
go check it out

i know very little about car audio, what exactly is a 4v pre-out line voltage and why is it a good thing to have in a system. I have now decided to go with a 2004 grand am because of price issues, so would that make a whole lot of difference in my set up. Also, what would be a good head unit that would fit in a grand am that is an extremely reasonable price?
