I'm planning to purchase a home theater system
here are my choices tell me what you think
pioneer PDP6100HD plasma tv 61"
For the speakers I'm deciding between bose Accoustimass 10IIIB or the Orbaudio system or anny sugestions out there?
For the receiver the Yamaha HTR5990 7.1 or any sugestions out there?
I was at bestbuy today and they had the bose system hooked up with the yamaha receiver I thought the highs were great and clear I was not impressed with the bass I was thinking of geting an extra powered sub not made by bose for puonding bass maybe the klipsch 650 Watt?
I had another question about hooking everything up I want to use only HDMI cables The TV has one HDMI input my HD DVR cable box also has one HDMI output The Yamaha Receiver has 2 HDMI inputs and one HDMI output what is the best way to hook everything up?

Let me get this straight Angelo. You are spending $7000+ on a near state-of-the-art video display, plus another grand on an above average receiver and you want to use fly-weight speakers? I realize there's some WAF at work here, but don't sell yourself short on audio. There are more knowledgeable people here on ± $1500 speaker systems, and very few will recommend Bose. The Orbs are probably better, but not many people here have actually heard them.

For the short term, you can run the cable box's HDMI directly to the TV, but if you eventually get another piece with HDMI you'll want to use the receiver as a switcher.

Agreed. Are these your only choices on speakers? You have the makings of a great system and you run out of steam on your speakers.

What is your budget on speakers?

I am sure that you may have thought out your system for quite a few days. Do some more research on speakers. I'm sure you can do better...expand your horizons.

Do you have space limitations?

thanks guys for all the input I havent done a lot of research on speakers but I do have space limitations my living room is small I dont know the exact dimentions I havent moved in yet I did want something small and sleek. After reading other threads I'm convinced that I dont want the bose system I never heared of the orb system until yesterday. I e-mailed orb yesterday and since I live in New York I'll set up a demo to hear them on friday tomorow I'll tell everyone what I think
My TV has one HDMI input and the receiver has 2 outs 1 input should I hook up the cable box and dvd to the reciver with HDMI and the reciever out to the TV or If I directly hook up the cable box to the TV. How do I hook up the receiver with HDMI? My tv and cable box has 1 HDMI each
My speaker budget is 1000 to 1200 maybe 1500 that is streching it though any help or sugestions on speakers would be great I dont mind floor standing speakers as long as there sleek enough

I have heard good things about Anthony Gallo speakers as well. Their look should impress you.

A,

I see that you said you have a small room, and i get the feeling all your really looking at is prepackaged 5.1 systems. The Klipsch Quintet is a small speaker like the Bose and sounds better to me than the Bose.

I would suggest looking at bookshelf size speakers for you room. Some examples at Best Buy would be the Klipsh B-3 or B-3. Center channal C-3 or 2, rears S-3 or 2 and of course the powered sub. Jbl also has nice bookshelf options.

You should be in the ball park of your budget with this option still.

Yes you can dump both Hdmi's to the Yamaha and one out to the tv, However you might run into a problem with the cable box going thru the receiver for video. Just depends on whos making the box.

Angelo,
A friend of mine has a 5.1 setup of the Mirage Omnisats in a fairly large room. These little speakers will play as loud as you want and have surprising room filling ability.

My friend is using Mirage's Omni S10 sub, although I'm not so sure it represents the biggest bang for the buck.
