Need help with connecting DVD-VCR combo with TV

AnonAK
I need help in connecting these three items on my system:
a) Sony KV-40 XBR 800 TV
b) DVD-VCR (progressive Scan DVD) Combo
c) Dish Network reciever.

Right now I do not have an Audio system to connect to..
Here are some issues to consider..
1) I receive all my programming through Dish (no cable)
2) I would like to be able to record Dish programming on my VCR of the DVD-VCR combo
3) As both my TV and DVD-VCR are HD Capable, what is the best way to connect my DVD to my TV.

Here is how I am looking to connect, is this the best way...
1) Connect DVD to TV using Y, Pb, Pr jacks; audio L-R from DVD-player line-out to TV (VIdeo-5)
2) Connect VCR part of combo to TV using A/V cable to connect VCR's A/V output to TV's A/V input (Video-3)
3) Connect DishReceiver to TV using a/v cable (TV Video-1)
4) Connect TV Set Out from Dish to VCR's VHF/UHF input jack.
With this I can watch my Dish on Videl-1; VCR (and record) on Video-3; and DVD on Video-5.

Please provide comments, if this is the best way to connect. Thanks for your help in advance

What is the brand & model of your DVD/VCR Combo player? Apart from knowing this, it would be difficult, but yet ideal, to recommend the first option you had listed with Component Cables without knowing what you have to work with in terms of Component connectivity on the player itself.

Sorry.. my DVD/VCR brand is Sony SLV-D500P.

It would appear as though that D500 does have Component Video Output for DVD. I would certainly opt for that connection.
