I got the exit sign from Home Depot and painted it black. The exit sign was $15. Everything was done on a budget because I'm on a budget. I got the ceiling tiles from Home Depot. People kept giving me the run around about black ceiling tiles so I had a friend spray paint them. Supposedly this is a no, no, but I had to do something. I got the seats from a closed down Regal Cinemas. The side and rear walls used to be an olive green type color. The all of the walls are black now. My seats got reapolstered too. The seats were $10 from Regal Cinemas. The lady charged me $30 to reapolster each seat. Oh yeah, the wall is sheetrock. I also had a guy make projector mount. The wood and chains for the ceiling mount was purchased from Home Depot. (I'm female by the way)

Oh yeah, if you want to get some very inexpensive mylar lightbox signs for your theater and/or lobby. Purchase the lightbox from Target in the back to school section. I cant think of the exact name. But the lightbox is less than $10. Instead of buying a real one for home theater puposes that would cost $250.

A few more things. This list is kinda outdated. Here is a mini home theater accessories list.

I would hardly say on a budget, I commend you on a job well done, nicely planed out and executed with attention to detail.

Andy (Thx for the kudos!)
I guess I mean budget by the following:

Sheetrock screen less than $10 instead of a screen from Dalite, Draper or Stewart.
Used theater seats instead of leather recliners.
Sheetrock walls instead of acoustic panels.
DIY projector mount instead of a $200 one.
I even bought the projector from a pawn shop a few years back.
I got my front speakers as demos from Hifi Buys with a full warranty.
My Dad gave me my rear speakers for my birthday.
He also gave me the center speaker.
The carpet was new from a remanent (SP?) sale.
I did all the painting in the room except for the ceiling. No way could I afford the type of seats that I have brand new. The only way I could have gotten similar theater seats brand new would be by purchasing one $600 seat a year for the next 10 years.

Well that is still a dream home cinema project that has been very well designed, and thought out in whole and in part, well done.

Congratulations!

You have done a great job. I envy you and others that have dedicated rooms.

Did it take you long to set up the sound system and wire it?

P.S. Here is a link to a page that may help you place your speakers, calibrate, and other good setup tips for your Mirages.

Westcott,

My Dad help me run the wires above the ceiling tile. I can't remember how long it took but I think it took a few hours. Thx for the calibrate tips. I never heard of Mirage until my Dad introduced me to them.

I just added karaoke to my home theater!
My Dad is going to give me some stands that I can put my karaoke speakers on. Hopefully, the platform is wide enough. If not, he said to get a block to face the speakers upward. I was going to get these mounted on the wall but they stick out a lot and my room is only 12 feet wide. I don't want anyone to hit the speakers when they leave their seat while watching a movie.
