Finally got the basement DONE. Well... almost done... still need to do some caulking on the edge of the equipment cabinet. Took forever doing most of the work myself, but I think the payoff is worth it... what do you think? Click on the SN for equipment list.

Pictures are too big to put in the post. Sorry.

What brand are those speakers of yours from? They look like Definitive Tech, but get me if I'm wrong.

Most home theaters look ok when the lights are low and the movie's a runnin' but when its time for picture taking it's not so nice. Yours is one of the exceptions. A beautiful and clean setup. Congratulations. I have a DefTech set and I love them, especially with the new HK 7300. (No need for a sub with those towers!)

I have questions though...
What is your screen size and distance to the main viewing spot. Would you change anything regarding these two issues?

What's in the equipment rack...HK receiver and an Outlaw amp?

Any problem with the remote control signals getting into that side recess?

John...

thanks for the comments. You're correct, I definitely don't need to add a sub in there :-)

To answer your questions:
Screen is a 106" Draper Onyx, so with the 4" border the whole thing measures 60x100 (52x92 screen). Viewing distance is around 14 feet, and it's perfect. About the only thing I would like to do is lower the screen a little (maybe 6") but can't do that without extending the projector mount or going to the absolute end of my vertical adjustment on the PJ (which I prefer not to do).

Equipment rack has:
Motorola HD Cable Box
Denon DVD-2910
HK AVR235 (used only as a pre/pro)
Outlaw 755 power amp

I do have some issues with the remote getting into that recess, but it's a small price to pay to keep things clean like that. I don't have to get up to use the remote, I just have to find the right spot out in front of me and to the left where the HK will pick it up. The Motorola remote has better off-angle pickup.

And John, FYI... it's difficult to tell in the pics, but the BPX's are mounted on a column (left side) and wall (right side) just behind the listening/viewing position. There is another column a few feet in front of that position that is wired and has support beams in place for mounting another pair of BPX's when I go to 7.0 (or 7.3, depending upon your perspective).

That setup is so clean...both are, in fact. I love the looks of the new HK receivers, especially the volume control knobs. I don't blame you for using it as a pre-amp.

Huge screen...wow. I bet your wife enjoys that setup as well.

Thanks Jexx... the wife is pretty good about allowing me to buy what I want, but I do have to keep the installs as clean as possible. But she does get almost as much enjoyment out of the system as I do.

More questions....
Since you are using the receiver as a pre-amp, is there any possibility of damaging the amp section since there's no speaker load on it?

Do you get much bass from the powered woofer in the center? Do you have the center configured "large" or "small"?

John.. I suppose there is some slight possibility of damaging the amp section of the AVR, but I'm not too concerned since I don't intend to use the amps. In all honesty, though, I don't expect it would be damaged simply from being bypassed.

I have the center configured as "large" and have the rears - which are quite capable in their own right - rolled off at 60hz. All 3 speakers up front have gain adjustment for the subs, so I can get as much (or as little) bass as I want out of the center. The dials go clockwise from roughly 7:00 to 5:00, and I have them set around 1:00 for most listening.
