Billy Wilder FilmFest On any short list of 'best directors'.

1. Stalag 13 / William Holden Amazing. You'll be doing a butt clench for about 1/2 this movie.

2. One Two Three / James Cagney. Funny Funny Funny. many in cast instantly recognizable. 1961....last Cagney flick until 1981s Ragtime....thought he did narrator duties in the (forgetable) 1968 Arizona Bushwackers...which I've never seen.

1. The Seven Samurai. Kurosawa at his best

2. Battle Beyond the Stars. Look for the sets and effects in several Roger Corman movies. Same plot as above.

1. Doctor Strangelove / Peter Sellers in 3 roles. Terrific black comedy from the 'cold war' school. Kubrick's finest,

2. Failsafe / Serious drama on similar cold war theme of bombers run amok.

Between the 2 of 'em, you've got stars from Henry Fonda to Slim Pickins. You'll recognize Dom Deluise and Larry Hagman.
