Hi Nls not sure what you mean hollow midrange no pop.
Can you elaborate further?
can you try a different set of fronts around the house or can you borrow a pair from someone different brand.
speaker wire?

Sounds like your mistake maybe is you did not do a proper audition even with your marantz.
Last year I tried a pair of iq3 and I didn't keep them long.

I found the mids to be straining to my ear which leads to fatigue so I gave them back.
Not sure if you have that option but after trying another set you'll see then if you have to resell them.
I would of been much happier myself with even the lowest line from boston acoustics over the kefs.

http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/boston_acoustics_cs226.htm
or even the vr3's from BA
Ive matched plenty of boston with marantz for installations and the customers always rave about sound to this day.
so do the listening test then decide if you want to keep or sell them ..
audiogon
ebay
canuckaudiomart.
etc
settings on reciever did you play with the setup menu?
and how did your last set of speakers sound?
