Extremely bad rotor

Decided to do my front brake job today. So I went to the store to get some brake parts cleaner, and when I got home and pulled into the garage, my brakes COMPLETELY FAILED! Pedal went all the way to the floor and I heard a pad fall off and hit the ground! I got really lucky to say the least... The left side was bad but not terrible, but the right was extremely bad; the pad that fell out was worn to bare metal, and the inside rotor plate was worn down to the vents. I'm guessing when the pad fell out the piston hyper-extended and got totally screwed up. Or the caliper was seized and putting constant pressure on that inside plate. I had to go buy a new caliper. Here's a pic of the right side rotor plate... My brakes were fine just 2 weeks ago.

Lol Twiz.. and stfu Julian.

Canaan, When I bought the car the owner recently had the brakes worked on. I'm guessing the rotors were turned or maybe not even touched. That was at 18k. 5 years later, I'm at 48k..

Trips to the beach, trips to New York, it's a 45 mile round trip to school as well. A few random trips here and there. It adds up quickly lol.

My Brother in law puts on 35,000+ a year. Sales manager for HVAC installs. New ride every 2-3 years on average. He gave my parents his explorer when he bought new again back in 05'. The suv had 150,000 miles on it when he gave it to them, who have 275,000 miles on it now and still trucking.

It's all about the type of miles and proper maintenance.
