i play a mapex near entry kit and i enjoy it. great for a budget. has nice hardware, sounds ok, i need new heads though :/

i would definitely have your bro hook you up from GC. my cousin worked at one for awhile and they get some deep discounts and may pass them on.

funny you put DW first because that's probably what i will get next when i decide to upgrade. i saw a kit that was silver/black/silver thick striped, and fell in love. if i had cashola i'd go with a nice custom kit though. zildjian/paiste all around.

I play an older Export series with a 10" 12", 13" and 16" toms (Im almost positive those are the sizes)
I use Vintage A drum heads (except bass. I know its a remo but I cant remember exact type) and an Iron Cobra double bass pedal.
Zildjian K series hi-hat/18" crash/8" splash, Wuhan 12" china and a 22" Avedias ride.
And I just use w/e stick feel good at the time

Yanks I was at CES and AVN on the 8th through 10th, and then at NAMM from the 15th through the 17th. Google the acronyms, I need sleep. Hung out with Gene and Nick Simmons, and Shannon. Nick's band sucked all sorts of azz... Gene was not pleased, at all. At one point I saw him walk up and throw the soundman out of the way and take over the board. Sounded better after that. Search youtube for nick simmons band namm 2009. I am probably in some of them telling the guitar players to tune their damn guitars. Nick was great by the way -- band blew. Sophie didn't show... sigh. Not a great way to debut in front of industry pros and record company execs... was an utter trainwreck.

This made me fall behind on my drum and production studio work, so all this week I have been in for 16+ hours. Just got home right now after a 22 hour bender.

Add in my two psychotic, nymphoid girls and.... yeah.
