Ok. Short and sweet as possible. I sell knives on the side. Have so for years. It kinda took a backseat the past year. I recently had a surge and want to dive back in. What I need is a catchy name for my knife business. I want business cards made up and eventually my own website down the road. For now they have been selling on Craigslist and word of mouth. I want to step it up a notch.

Throw some business name suggestions at me and if I decide to use it I'll send you some knives for free. Names like "The Cutting Edge" or "Sharper Image" have been done. I want something new and interesting. Throw them at me.

FYI I sell tacticle folders, bowies, swords, pen knives and wildlife sets. I was selling them dirt cheap to get out of the business but decided to take it head on at a more professional level.

Hey thanks.

You could run specials. Buy a knife and get a pair of 1 size too small gloves free. Or mention this ad and a racial slur for 15% off. Buy a knife get a Bronco half off. Get a free Nicole Simpson Pez dipsenser with every knife.

You get the idea.

well, Some great names thrown out.
Personaly, I would pick a name that would be easy to find when searching.
When I'm looking for something i just type in what i want and go from there.
Like "knife investment collecter" or other key first words.
Good luck.

Thanks Marc.

Thieves that's actually a blue/black knife. Because of the lighting it looks black in the pic. I sell this knife for $3. Because shipping is $4.95 for a small flat rate envelope it would only make sense to buy several and throw them in the same envelope. At least that's what I tell my customers who need it shipped.

Sometimes I wind up selling and shipping only one knife. Those sales suck. Sometimes I ship 20 at a time. That's the trade off and something you just have to get used to.

So far the most I sold in one shot was 115 to a fire chief. He was like a kid in a candy store lol.

Nice.

I have to check around for a good place to purchase the domain name. I need a good one that will help with building it. I know about Godaddy but also hear Yahoo has a decent one.

I just don't want to get stranded after agreeing to two years and no help building the site. Then there's the Visa/MC setup. All with fees.

Then after that I can design a site logo and get some business cards made. Lots of work yet. They make it sound so easy.

Lol Twiz. Sorry. Like I said for you guys these are $3 each plus shipping. Smaller pen knives are cheaper. My bowies go for $10 each which there are no pics here because shipping is a tad extreme. They sell locally anyway. If anyone buys one pocket knife it only makes sense to buy a few more to save on the shipping.

Yeah it looks like Brad's "Stainless Steals" will be it. I need to faart around and come up with a logo now. Something to have printed on business cards.

Pit, don't you want to wait until I get my new shipment in tomorrow? Some good stuff coming that I'll be taking pics of. As far as payment Paypal is fine. So is MO as long as ppl don't mind waiting for it to clear b4 it ships. Same with personal checks.

Let me borrow your eyes guys. I spent a few minutes with paint and stole a few pics from the net and quickly came up with a few logos. Tell me what you think. Something to put on a business card. What font would look best with what wolf pic? What should I add? Remove? I wanted it simple without clutter. I also chose the wolf because it's been my favorite animal since....birth and I do have a nice little assortment of wildlife knives. I thought it would be a good symbol. Is it way off base? Any suggestions?

You need this program to do anything like I did:

http://rapidshare.com/files/11777982/Visual_Business_Cards_v.4.14.rar

And it was hardly a final design... I just threw something together that would show you what is possible using some imagination and the correct tools.

^^^Looks great Brad. My first job was at a print shop where we made business cards and letter head. I would hate to takle printing that one lol. There are several different colors there that would have to be laid down on about 6-8 different screens. Anyway, looks really good.

You don't know what a .rar is or how to open one? It is what replaced the .zip as a way of compressing files and gathering folders into one neat package. It is used by a very high percentage of the internet.

I'll try that.^^^

Very happy with what arrived. The camos are bigger than I thought. I'm going to have to shove the price up a tad on these to $5. $4 for anyone here though. They were my most anticipated items in this shipment and I have to say I'll have no problem selling these.

Upload

A couple field knife sets. I'll sell these locally for $10 each.

Upload

Got a handful of some more small pen knives.

Upload

Got one more Marine NCO sword.

Upload

Got some bowies as well. These are higher quality than expected. I'm going to look for $20 for these.

Upload

Next is a beautiful Excalibur sword. Display only, no sharp edges. Comes with display plaque for mounting. I should really list this baby for $50+.

Upload
Upload
Upload

Three piece black Katana set. Comes with stand. Been selling them for $20 but I think I was selling myself short. Thinking about $40?

Upload
Upload

Next is the kitchen set I was telling Jake about. Suggested retail is $89. From me it's less than $10.

Upload
Upload

Large game processing kit. Hunter's best friend.

Upload

I also ordered some very nice Wolf River knives. Paid good money for these so they are going into my personal collection.

Upload

Well with this last shipment my inventory is just about filled up again. I do need a better selection of combination pen knives to round out my lineup but other than that I've got a good start.

"WTF Rob? You want me to leave? Fine. You tell them why I left."

I'm gonna guess you were drinking a bit last night when this was posted. My post wasn't serious at all if you took it seriously. Paul, you're one of the people I wouldn't want to leave the forum because you're a decent person. Unlike the rest of us tools :-)
