tonight on cbs kimbow slice will be fighting. i was listening to espn radio this morning and they were talking about the fight.

they were also talking about kimbo slice as a person. my props to this guy. he was living in his car at one point and now he is successful. they were also saying how he could of turned to life of crime but chose not to.

this guy is genuine. i don't watch mma fights but i want to see this one.

Too bad they are feeding him a bunch of washed up nobody's. His opponent tonight has beat some good people but has lost many fights to lousy people and has a glass jaw. Glass jaw + Kimbo = early KO. Which is exactly what EliteXC wants for this bout. They are cheating people out of real MMA by bringing in this street fighter to the mainstream as the poster boy. I'd really like to see him against some upper echelon fighters.

"they were also saying how he could of turned to life of crime but chose not to."

Was he not holding illegal street fights for money? Somehow I think that street fighting and gambling on it is illegal. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I just reread what I wrote. I wasnt attacking you Chad. Though when you read it, it comes off like that. I was arguing what ESPN had said.

Promise me that you will watch the other fights too Chad. There is one in particular that I'm interested in. Scott Smith vs. Robbie Lawler, should be a good fight. Also I really want to see Gina Carano vs Kaitlin Young. Gina's kinda hot and getting a bunch of hype.

Tito hasnt been good for a while. BUT I would really like to see what Kimbo could do against somebody like Tito who is a great ground n pounder. Everyone he has fought has tried to stay standing with him. I'd like to see how he performs when someone takes him down, mounts him, and rains down elbows.

espn is calling kimbo slice the mike tyson of the mma world.

^^That all started with Gary Shaw (EliteXC's President and director). He had an interview a few weeks back where he said that Kimbo was the Tyson of the MMA world. Kimbo's face was like "shut the fu(k up". Gary Shaw is a tool. Him and his track suit need to go somewhere else. He looks like a broke, 80's, wanna be mobster. lol.

We all know about Tyson, so is that a good thing or a bad thing to be the Tyson of the MMA world? lol.

well they are comparing him to tyson in his prime so it is a compliment if you think about it.

besides, kimbo is a family man so he'll never turn out like mike. imagine one of his daughter bringing home a boyfriend though. lol. kimbo would scare the sh!t out of whoever it is. lol.

"Scott Smith vs. Robbie Lawler"

wow, i'm actually really looking forward to this now, I haven't seen Lawler fight in YEARS!!! I thought he retired or something!

Chad regarding Kimbo as a person, they're gonna paint the picture they want you to see. Like Jesse pointed out, the crowd he runs with doesn't go to church every sunday. In addition to the street fighting and gambling, he has also appeared in various porn0s (not as a p0rnstar), definitely living the party hard lifestyle.

Kimbo vs. Tito would be interesting. I think Kimbo would have a legit chance. Tito has never really been a good fighter. He was successful early in his career because a lot of guys weren't ready for a guy who was such a stud wrestler and could just take you down and pound you. NOW, they are ALL prepared for that, because SO MANY great collegiate wrestlers have converted to MMA fighters. MMA has evolved, the great wrestlers are everywhere, so the fighters have adapted. And Tito has proven that if he can't take you down and stay on top, he can't win fights, sorry tito fans.

For years I watched Kimbo fight online and win and win. He has a punch of steal that i have to say rivals Tyson's back in his day. Tyson had/has other issues that fuels his fire. He's just not all upstairs.

What's a shame is the industry bringing Kimbo into legit fighting the way they are. Build a winning rep backed by his street fighting career and you have a very big payday someday when they "arrange" it against someone on top. Not into the fight scene so forgive my lack of names.

Just look how they have "carnivalized" Tyson. I'm waiting on the "Tyson vs. kodiak bear" event, soon to come out anytime lol. If they could sell it the date would be set. It's hard to trust the outcome of most any fighting event anymore. It's all about the money.

And don't get me started on Don King.

Kimbo DID lose. He has been exposed. Couldnt have poster boy lose. James Thompson was on top of him with Kimbos arm trapped and elbowing him for about the last minute of the 2nd round and the fight isnt stopped. Kimbo hits Thompson 4 times very weakly, cause he was gassed to hell, in the 3rd and it gets stopped?? Are you sh!ttin me?

Kimbo lost the first 2 rounds. If it went the distance, Thompson would have won on the scorecards easily.

Smith and Lawler was the best fight on the card and even that was a crock of sh!t.

It did seem that the stoppage was premature in the fight of Kimbo Vs. Thompson but Thompson was hurt if you looked into his eyes you could clearly see they were glazed and not focused but I can't say that I've seen a fight get stopped while the person getting hit was still standing, that was very odd. I would definitely say that the ref had his stopped persuaded by some outside source. I also don't see how they could allow for Kimbo to get rained on by so many elbows and not stop the fight, it doesn't make sense.

The Lawler Vs Smith fight was INTENSE but...something just didn't seem right. It looked to me like too many MASSIVE bombs were thrown and people didn't go down. I realize that there are guys with a "chin" and can take some shots but my guess is that those kicks and punches were being thrown with speed and lacking power to put on a good show. Now that the fans have been spoiled by intense action during this fight the re-match will happen and people will want to see the outcome. I just don't know after watching these fights about Elite XC.

weird. I didn't see it that way at all. The elbows Thompson was throwing at the end of the 2nd round had ZERO power on them, those were nothing but "look judges, i'm staying busy" elbows. I didn't really think the stoppage was premature, it was an MMA stoppage. If you wanna see guys be allowed to continue even though they're completely rocked, and watch them stumble around until they APPEAR recovered, watch boxing. Thompson was clearly rocked and not defending himself at all, let alone intelligently, in MMA that means the fights over.

The Lawler vs. Smith fight was really disappointing. Stopping the fight for that when Smith wanted to continue is insane. I poke myself in the eye all the time in everyday life just from being f*ckin clumsy, you blink a few times, give the eye a good rub, and alls well. Are they gonna start stopping fights for broken nails and stubbed toes too? ridiculous.

Ehren, it's Smith's fault that the fight was stopped because he told the doctor that he couldn't see. As far as those elbows have no power in them...yea right lol. That guy may not have been throwing them full power but you try taking 30 elbows to the head and tell me it's not going to hurt with lots of power behind them or not. Anyhow, this Kimbo fight showed that Kimbo really isn't anywhere near up to par on what top level MMA fighters are. He'd be destroyed by any decent heavyweight in my opinion.

"Ehren, it's Smith's fault that the fight was stopped because he told the doctor that he couldn't see."

I hear ya. When smith was asked "can you see" by the doctor, it was a poor choice of words to say "no, but i'll be fine after my five minutes". He shoulda known better, he knows the rules and everyone knows vision is a huge factor in potential stoppage. If the vision is impaired by an eye poke or blood trickling in, they aren't considered capable of defending themselves properly. I'm just saying I thought it was silly because he obviously wasn't hurt badly, the doc IMO just got picky about what he said. IMO what he was trying to say was it's not perfect atm but i'll be fine after my recovery time.

Regarding the end of the 2nd round I may have exaggerated a tad. What I meant to say is NOT that the elbows were insignificant, obviously they hurt. Just meant that they were certainly not potentially fight-ending strikes IMO.

I was actually a little impressed with Kimbo but I had REALLY low expectations so I was glad just to see him be able to pull guard and a couple times on top was actively looking to improve to mount and such.

In terms of being a legit top tier fighter though, Kimbo is going nowhere fast. Simply from an athletic standpoint he's small for a heavyweight at only 6'2" 235lbs, and doesn't have any exceptional quickness, agility or skill to make up for size disadvantage. I mean there are monsters out there cutting weight to make 265!!!! And this guy walks around at 235???? That's tiny for a HW!!!

Ehren. My point about the elbows, even if they didnt seem to have much power, was that kimbo was not "intelligently defending" himself. I agree that Thompson was hit, but how much could it have really "rocked" him. Kimbo was so gassed that I cant see those strikes hurting anymore than the earlier strike when Kimbo wasnt gassed. It seemed like it was stopped more because the ear popped.

Btw, I'll leave the boxing to you. I've seen way worst than what happened to Thompson and the fighter still allowed to keep fighting. This is one thing you wont change my mind on, no matter how much you want to argue it.

dude, kimbo came out flat. he didn't come out swinging like he had in his first couple of fights. i think that will win him more matches then if he tries to be super technical. he's just not that kind of fighter.

Lol, Reece when you come out swinging and throwing bombs it puts you in danger as well. They obviously told him to play it safer.

i understand that, but that's the only way he knows how to fight. he might as well make it rain until he gets a better technical repertoire together.

it was a waste of my time to cBS

the lawler-smith fight was great and i thought it should have continued- cBS

kimbo showed everyone why he shouldnt fight MMA - he sucked and should stick to beating people down in a backyard

kimbo would get dominated by most real MMA fighters.

complete garbage
