been useing a lg 50px5d for about 6 months now with a cable card and all seemed ok till a few days ago.the best way to discribe it is snow on the screen just not your normal black & white snow...ITS RED...its not much...can see it if i move close to the screen...tryed reconnecting the cc and cable line input and ran a channel scan even reset all the settings to normal out of the box..dont know if this is a reception problem or not being i get this red snow on all input settings dvd, video,cable etc...has anyone ever hear about these red dots (snow)and what i should try to correct it...thanks
I Have 3 analog TV's, a TV tuner in my HP computer, and an LG 50" HD Plasma with built in
tuner and CableCard (no converter box). House is 150' from street, and the cable company had to run a new "drop" when I installed the LG Plasma two years ago. Still couldn't get all
channels, so the cable company installed an AC powered signal amplifier at the house. Finally, all channels came in on the LG.
Two years later, suddenly several channels won't come in on the LG Plasma at times. When one
comes in, the whole group comes in. Or, the whole group goes out (I get a "NO SIGNAL" button
on screen). Sometimes we'll be watching one of these "come and go" channels on the LG, and
the picture will start to pixillate (break into little groups of squares), then go blank
except for the NO SIGNAL button, which jumps around the screen. All channels always come in
on the analog sets and computer.
Have had the cable techs over four times over this latest problem. Thought they had it
fixed, as all channels came in for two weeks; then, last night, the same group of channels
went out again. Today, the latest cable tech replaced the CableCard in the LG plasma (which didn't change anything), and when this didn't work, said the problem was in the LG HD TV's tuner.
1) Is this possible? Can a digital TV tuner just go bad? And only for some channels? 2) What would you advise I do next?
