For those of you that still have this receiver and have the issue where the remote will not regulate the volume (sometimes smacking the front panel will get it to work for awhile), the links below offer information on how to get this fixed. This is a fairly simple process and certainly much cheaper than buying a new receiver. This solution worked great for me and hope others who have the same issue can get resolution.
