I'm looking to put together a somewhat "vintage" 2 channel system for listening to music. I've been surveying the used market for amps and preamps a lot lately and doing as much research as I can before I make a purchase.

Right now I'm comparing a few different preamp/tuners. I'm trying to stay in the $200-300 price range for the preamp and that will leave me with a few more hundred to stick into a couple of power amps.

I've been looking at the Adcom GTP-500, the Carver CT-7, and the Luxman TP-114. Just wondering what the general feelings are about these units. Positives? Negatives? Any others you might consider that might be found in this price range or close to it?

I haven't chosen an amp or amps yet, but will be matching whatever I get up with a pair of 1978 vintage Bose Studio Monitors and a dbx brand satellite/sub system.

Thanks for any help you all might be able to provide!
