Creative Zen X-Fi2

I think the product is great. Excellent sound. Only downside is rebuilding library of photos each time I access the memory card.

Nice product apart from video

Nice product; music quality very good, headphones very good. volume slider sometimes difficult to set at right level. Video a bit of a challenge to me as can't get any apart from small camera videos working. The software which comes with it (Creative Centrale) particularly clunky and doesn't seem to do any promised conversion when transferring to the player. Also, and critical for me, this unit DOES NOT PLAY BBBC IPLAYER due to not being able to handle the licence management version that BBC use; despite earlier Creative products being able to - wierd and very frustrating. I have tried to get an answer from Creative on why they did this and when they might get the latest version supported, but no response.

In the meantime don't buy this player if you want to view iPlayer programmes.

Zen

Love the Zen and delivery on time.
The item has now developed a fault and no body seems to care. Would think twice about buying electrical items from Amazon again.

Believe the poor reviews!

Previously had a Zen Micro which was excellent.

Researched new products for ages and despite some poor reviews I went for the Zen x-fi2 16gb. I soon realised this was a huge mistake.

It took 3 hours to load 10Gb of music - I sync'd with Windows Media Player 11 but the album art did not show. I could not find a way using the useless Creative Centrale software to sync the player so had to do this manually for 200+ albums - although this got the album art to show, this was a long and painful process.

After loading all my music it did not take me long to discover the user interface was complete rubbish. The touchscreen was unresponsive, the volume bar was difficult to control and the menu system is unintuitive.

I was also dissappointed that the x-fi2 does not have the 'add to selected' option which the Zen Mirco had. This basically allowed you to build a playlist whilst listening to music (I used to use this all the time whilst communting). Although you can build a playlist on the player itself, it only gives you the option of selecting by individual songs.

The final straw was when I accidently deleted my whole music selection from the player, as a result of the touch screens unresponsiveness.

Thankfully the item has now been returned - Amazon's cutsomer service achieves 5 stars. Thank you Amazon.

If you're buying this for the video function - don't bother.

I bought this partly on the strength of my old faithful clunky Zen MP3 player that gave me 5 years of trouble free use but my main reason for buying the xfi-2 was that travel a lot and liked the idea of being able to load up videos and play them on a TV via AV cables. Wrong move. I've tried loading every variation of the supported formats and can't get a film that doesn't judder all the way through... totally unwatchable. I wish I hadn't wasted my money - avoid.
