A useful product

(5 out of 5) by Wayne Redhart on Sep 24, 2009 (West Midlands, UK)
I'm sure we've all fallen foul of having forgotten to take adequate precautions before a long journey. This is an extremely useful pack to carry about in the car, so as to prevent the frightful necessity of having to endure the tripe that they broadcast on the airwaves. Basically it just does what it says and charges up your ipod or iphone. However, it's always important to reassure yourself that you buying from a reputable manufacturer. Here's how Dexim describe themselves (quoted verbatim from the product description):

Dexim delivers dream and love. We call for a new lifestyle as our slogan says:" Put your dreams in lifeh. dexim creates products from our hearts to offer consumer enjoyable, personalized and superior using experience. The inspiration of dexim merges Chinese and Western culture. dexim is a Chinese translation which involves three layers of meaning: ethic practiceC3 wins situation, bright future. The First Win stands for consumer by offering best using experience. The Second Win stands for our business partners for long-term cooperation. The Third Win stands for shareholders & employees for continuable development.

Who could possibly argue with that?

Does exactly what it says it does!

(5 out of 5) by Julikat on Jul 20, 2009 (Surrey, UK)

There's nothing much to add to all the other positive reviews here, except to agree that it's a great 'lifesaving' product for anyone who doesn't bother to check their battery levels before leaving home!

It's portable, not too bulky, and even has a torch that doubles up as a battery-level indicator. I often forget to check my iPod Touch 2G battery levels, and having a gadget that can give it a boost when I'm out and about is really useful. Just make sure the charger is charged :)

The short mini cable is just the right length to be able to attach it to the bottom of the iPod. I just use a rubber band to keep them together and then use it while it's charging.

This is one of those things that you think you don't really need... until you start getting low on battery, and then you wonder how you ever lived without it. Thoroughly recommended.

An iphone life-saver

(5 out of 5) by Planet G on Jul 18, 2009 (Berkshire, UK)
The Dexim back up battery comes with a mains charger and leads for several types of phone, including iphone and blackberry. The instructions with the battery are fairly minimal but all the information is there. It is easy to use and takes about 2-2.5 hours to charge fully.

An LED light that can act as a torch is also included - actually quite a nice touch if you're struggling to get your phone recharged in the dark. The battery has 4 blue indicator lights on the side to give an idea of how much power is left in the battery.

I found that the back-up battery could charge my iphone twice (from the iphone's 20% remaining warning) and still have some power left.

This device has got me out of trouble twice - allowing me to recharge my iphone in situations where there was no mains power or a nearby PC available - Once on a bus, once whilst out and about - I charged the phone up whilst it was in my pocket.

Fantastic idea - great product but not quite 5 stars as the iphone charger lead could have been a little longer.

Far more than just an iPhone and iPod charger

(4 out of 5) by Darren Simons on Jul 16, 2009 (Middlesex, United Kingdom)
Taking the charger for what it is marketed as, this lightweight battery basically extends the life of your iPhone and iPod battery by means of an external battery. This may be charged previously via the mains and then used as a source of power to the iPhone/iPod ideal for long journeys.

For that, it serves its function well. However, what particularly impressed me is that it in fact serves as a charger for a multitude of products. Using a series of adapters (all with USB at one end) the other end of the cable supports mini 5-pin USB, micro USB and iPhone connectors. With this flexibility it is far more than just an iPhone charger.. it's a charger for all your mobile devices in one handy pack

Using the mains adapter it also means you can connect some devices directly to the USB connector as a means of charger, thus reducing the number of mains plugs you need to take on your travels.

So... that's the good news. What's the catch? Well, there's only one really... for £50... you can buy a lot of batteries!!

Lifesaver for long journeys

(5 out of 5) by R. WEST-SOLEY on Jul 16, 2009 (Birmingham, UK)
This is basically an extra battery pack that you can plug your dying iPod / iPhone into when it runs out of juice - and it does what it says on the tin. Fantastic for prolonging play time on those long journeys. It does add a (tiny) bit of bulk to your luggage, but it's a small price to pay for avoiding the frustration (and ensuing boredom) of having your music / movies die halfway to your destination. Sizewise, it's only a little bulkier than an iPod Touch or iPhone.

It takes a USB connection to your device, so I assume it should be OK for other USB devices as well as iPhones and iPods. It's easy as pie to charge up, either via mains (adaptor included) or USB to a computer - and handy LED lights let you know when it's fully charged and ready to go. Brilliant!
