This is basically an extra battery pack that you can plug your dying iPod / iPhone into when it runs out of juice - and it does what it says on the tin. Fantastic for prolonging play time on those long journeys. It does add a (tiny) bit of bulk to your luggage, but it's a small price to pay for avoiding the frustration (and ensuing boredom) of having your music / movies die halfway to your destination. Sizewise, it's only a little bulkier than an iPod Touch or iPhone.

It takes a USB connection to your device, so I assume it should be OK for other USB devices as well as iPhones and iPods. It's easy as pie to charge up, either via mains (adaptor included) or USB to a computer - and handy LED lights let you know when it's fully charged and ready to go. Brilliant!

I have always wondered how the phones on the TV series Prison Break never ran flat and never seemed to need charging - the brothers must have had pockets full of these packs from Dexim!

This DCA103B backup battery from Dexim could prove to be a really useful product. At the time of writing it is nearly time for Glastonbury once again and I bet there will be many people there who will wish they had one of these packs with them by the end of the festival! There will be many other occasions and eventualities when a product like this could be a life-saver; great for entertainment and great to be able to keep on talking.

Dexim's product is officially licensed and very well made; the pack includes all you need, from the international power adaptor, connecting cables, battery and even a soft carrying case to keep everything tidy. The battery is a stand-alone power supply; it doesn't replace the existing battery at all. Although designed for Apple products it will also work with any device with a mini USB power input.

This is a life-style product and will suit some people much more than others. If you travel a lot, or spend time in the Great Outdoors then this will be for you; if you're always near a power supply you probably won't need it, although it would provided backup in the event of a power cut!

This is a well thought out and very well made device which will suit the right user very well. At around £60 it is not cheap, but it is good value for what you get. I don't have an iPhone yet, just an iPod Classic and it works very well with that. Amazon's Product Description provides details of what you can expect from it and also what Dexim's philosophy is! I have to admit that this is a good idea and a good product. The ability to get a few more precious hours from your ipod or iphone when you are unable to charge it from the socket (very long national express bus journey) or camping is a fine idea. Very well packaged with the ability to charge up other electrical devices (blackberry smartphones) with the included cables. I suspect you could use the battery to charge other devices if you have the suitable usb cable to do so.
Worth putting in your travellers rucksack next to your broadband dongle and your Bill Bryson novel - a big yes.

No bigger than the average mobile phone, the Dexim BluePack S3 is an ingenious little device, which can be charged up via a dual USB charge cable connected to a power adapter that goes into a wall socket. You can even charge it up by inserting both the USB cables into your computer. It works on my Mac, too, as you would expect since it is compatible with iphones and ipods. There is a battery capacity LED indicator, which flashes blue when charging, and stops flashing, but stays lit up when fully charged. The pack also uses Smart technology to prevent it from over charging. In addition, it has a switch button to check the available battery power level.

Once charged it can be connected to your iphone, ipod (Nano, Classic, touch, 5th generation), BlackBerry and even T-Mbile G1/HTC phones to gain up to 10 hours extra talk time, 12 hours video playing time or 72 hours music playing time. What's more is that you can charge the BluePack at the same time as your iPhone/ipod/BlackBerry etc using the cables of which are all provided.

There is even a handy little built in torch, and a travel bag for it all. I tested this out on my ipod via the wall socket and my Mac, and I was surprised at the easiness of it all. I fully recommend it as a useful product, which comes complete with all the right cables and therefore ready to use as soon as you receive it. Think of how useful this is when you are out and about with no power supply, but a fully charged BluePack. If you love gadgets you'll love this Smart little fella. What the torch is for, I am unsure, but I love it anyway!

I'm sure we've all fallen foul of having forgotten to take adequate precautions before a long journey. This is an extremely useful pack to carry about in the car, so as to prevent the frightful necessity of having to endure the tripe that they broadcast on the airwaves. Basically it just does what it says and charges up your ipod or iphone. However, it's always important to reassure yourself that you buying from a reputable manufacturer.
