Great features and easy to use/set-up
This is a great looking phone and no more "plastic looking" than other phones on the market these days. The only drawback (minor) is the ansaphone greeting voice, which is a little creepy (but you can record your own or record one from the internet, so not a huge issue. Besides, you won't be listening to your own message, your callers will!).
We personally think the ringtones are quite jolly, but can appreciate they may irritate some. But there is a standard, if somewhat in your face, "ring, ring" option if you don't like the various tunes available.
Remote access to the ansaphone is useful, as is the fact you can listen to messages from any handset (not just the ansaphone hub itself).
We found the set-up of these phones really straight forward and love the fact any phone can "copy" contacts to the other phone(s) to save having to input them separately per handset (not many phones on the market seem to offer this basic facility, yet it saves so much time). It's features like this, which make this phone such a winner.
Our favourite feature is part of the night-time mode option. Whereby you can stop any calls late at night/early morning (or if you work shifts, any time of your choosing basically) other than the "permitted contacts" you don't mind calling you. For example, we have set-up the phones so no one other than our parents can call us between 10pm and 9am! You will need caller ID, but if you are with BT, you can register for BT Privacy at Home (it's free) and get caller ID (again for free) as long as you make a couple of paid for calls each month.
Without caller ID, you miss out on lots of the phone's fab features (eg different ringtones for different callers - this is great for call screening, as you know immediately whether it's that moany relative or your cherished love one!).
All in all a top quality phone at a value for money price (we've previously had BT, Binatone and Phillips landline phones and none match up to the spec or quality of this phone).
Hope this helps you buy the right phone for you.

A Pleasure To Use
I have had a good experience with Panasonic phones in the past, so when I decided to update, I searched for the latest Panasonic models. I have not been disappointed. They have lots of features, if that's your 'thing,' but can also be used at a basic level, without too much fuss. I had them all set up and charging within a matter of minutes and they were all registered to the base already. They are light and easy to handle, but not cheap and nasty. The screen is large, bright and easy to see. I have caller display on Virgin Media and it worked. I have set up the categories so I can get a different ringer for each one. (There are 9 categories, numbers are added within these categories and a ringtone can be added to each category.) The ringtones are awful, but it is not as if I will have to listen to them constantly, just when the phone rings! The colour screens are basic, but it is not a visual device, it is listening one. The sound is very clear, without interference and can be adjusted. The speaker phone also worked well. I liked the fact you can bar individual numbers. This feature may seem unnecessary to some, but when you are being badgered night and day by someone, the fact you can just put the number in and never be bothered by them again, at least on your landline, was a godsend for me. I had to put all my numbers in, but just into one handset, I copied them over to the other handsets, so it was less tedious than I thought it was going to be. The answerphone is easy to set up and you can use it from whatever handset, not just from the base station one. Night mode is useful, if you only want to be disturbed by important people, at certain times.
As I mentioned in the comment section, you can turn off the display whilst it is in the cradle, if you find it distracting. Go to 'Handset Set Up.' Then to 'Display Setup.' Then to 'LCD In Charging.' Leaving it on dims the display, but you choose off, the display turns off within 10 seconds of it being placed in the cradle. When a call is received, the display will light up again, with the details.
There was also an unexpected bonus, I was able to add my old Panasonic model to the base, so I actually have 5 working phones, instead of just the 3 new ones. It was just a case of pressing one button on the base and registering the old phones to it, just another couple of button presses. For me it means I can have a handset close by, no matter where I am, without the expense of buying additional ones. I can't say if this feature would work with non Panasonic handsets though.
All in all I am very pleased with my purchase and I would say they are well worth the money.

Best Phones Ever!
Absolutely wonderful. We had the Panasonic set from about 5 years ago - they have been amazing - aside from replacing the rechargable batteries once or twice they have seriously withstood the test of time. This time when we replaced the batteries, we decided to upgrade to this latest version, and are sooo pleased we did. These have a great write-up from Which, are very easy to use, and as the last set we had were still in great working order we've passed them on to family. I cannot speak highly enough of the Panasonic range of DECT cordless phones.

Panasonic KX-TG8423EB
Would you like to get revenge on all those cold calling people who pester you at all hours of the night? Well you can with this phone! It has a night mode that only lets through calls that are in your phone list, all others are stopped fantastic! On top of that it's got a call barring list so that any number that are in that list will be stopped! And it's got a nice easy to use large screen plus an answering machine what more could you want. My wife and I have been waiting for something like this for ages!

Happy with my purchase
The phone and base station work fine, range is ok. Would be better if toggle button could be used to select dial (you have to use the green button to dial), phonebook button is awkwardly placed above green button and you need nimble fingers to select it, dial buttons are shiney I would prefer rubberised buttons that have a better grip. Otherwise operation is simple and does everything I want.
