Panasonic DMR-EX769EB-K
Good value, clears the clutter of several boxes round the TV, works well but I would like to be able to scroll through other channels whilst still watching something, my previous freeview box gave a reduced picture in the corner of the index screen. Has a great many features we haven't worked out how to use yet, may need to read the manual!!!!

Magic Item - couldn't live without it
I've had this Dvd recorder for over a year & a half now, & i couldn't live without it, I just wished i'd shelled out more for the 250GB Hard Drive, - Not because this lacks Space - FAR from it the storage Capacity is HUGE 160 + Hours, the Upscalling in even noticable on a Standard CRT television, The Freeview is so easy to use especially when setting up to record for weeks ahead, could do with a series link button link Sky+ and maybe the ability to enter video plus codes but over all these are MINOR grumbles from someone who has been bowled over by the Quality and Capacity of this Machine, I'd recomend this to Anyone, but consider the 250GB version a bit more costly but then your capacity is that much larger

Delighted with my new manbox
I recently purchased this product from amazon, and I am fully satisfied with it, it is fully worth the price paid. After doing a lot of research, I bought it mainly because of the ability to record from SKY (as I am unable to get Sky+ - long story) and now that I have it, I have been able to do so without any problems. Recording from Sky is simple, either via the EXT Link functionality, which works nicely in combination with the autoview function of SD Sky(when autoview switches SkyBox on the recorder automatically records) or via a scheduled timer recording which is simple to setup. The built in freeview receiver works a treat, and so do the dvd player/recorder and the 1080p upscaling. The ads on the side of the tv guide are unnecessary, but I don't really care about them and don't see how they could affect overall customer satisfaction with this product.
Great machine, it's so useful I now refer to it as my manbox.

A purchase I regret
Good machine does what it says on the box, BUT....
It has the the most awful On Screen Display I have ever seen, it is not intuitive, lots of button pressing and changing screens to get any thing done. IE. On a Sharp model in the guide you highlight the programme you want to timer record, press record and thats it. On this machine more button more screens, and does NOT save the info about the programme when you record it and if you select Auto for subtitles you can't turn them off on playback.
You can't reclaim the screen space when you turn DIGA off (Which is adverts, but they don't tell you that, it's "Messages of interest".
The boot up time is ridiculous, I go and make a coffee while I,m waiting.
I really regret not sending this back in the 1st seven days, It was bought on the strength of the Panasonic name
