Panasonic DMR-EX769EB-K Freeview+ 160GB Hard Disc Drive DVD Recorder 1080p Up Conversion
[[ASIN:B001UE84I0 ]]
I already own a Panasonic DMR-EZ27EB recorder which I have been delighted with for 2 years. I bought the DMR-EX769EB-K as I wanted a recorder with a Hard Drive so that I could record programs in good quality - sometimes up to 6 hours. This is not possible on a recorder without a hard drive which will only record for 2 hours in decent quality.
The DMR-EX769EB-K has not dissappointed. I thought my existing recorder was excellent - and it is. This one is stunning. Picture and sound are superb. I think the tuner is better, more sensitive. Using an HDMi cable on a HDMi TV the upscaling seems to produce an even sharper picture even though I do not have a High Definition signal. Panasonic remotes are well laid out and easy to use in the dark (unlike Sony). Menues are intuative and the auotomated setup works easily. You only need to dig into the large amount of options if you are like me and like to fiddle. The automatic settings will be all most people will ever use.
I have one complaint, and this applies to all current Panasonic products and that is the addition of adverts into their Electronic Programme Guides which reduces the useable screen area by a third when using the Guide - very irritating.
The recorder is brilliant, and I am a very fussy person!

Fantastic Machine
Bought this last week and although it takes a little while to work out how to operate it and read the 100+ page manual, I just connected it up as per the diagram in the manual, switched it on and it set itself up, tuned in lots of Freeview channels and was ready to go in about 5 minutes. The picture quality is superb when played back through my Panasonic Viera tv and I can operate both TV and PVR with either remote using Viera link. I think the previous reviewer who complained about the lack of a Series link must have an older model as mine has a Series link option which works a treat.

Panasonic Recorder
Really good product. Does exactly what its supposed to. Hasn't missed a recording, easy to use menu's, smart design. Upscales my dvds as advertised. Works really well with my panasonic plasma through viera link. I can't find anything wrong with it. I would definatley recommend

Another fantastic product from Panasonic
This product is fantastic, exceeded all expectations, smooth, high quality, allows you to watch a recording whilst still recording at the same time. So easy to setup, just plug-in and it sets itself up in no time at all.

All I could ask for in a recorder
The DMR arrived 4 days after ordering it; it was well packed and very straightforward to set up. I am an octegenarian and was still using video tapes until I got this DMR but it presented me with no problems and where the process was not intuitive, I found the manual very helpful and not at all difficult. On the day I receive it I tested all the processes it would do and all worked well. The recordings on the hard drive give an excellent picture on my Panasonic 42" plasma screen and transfer to DVD was simple with several quality options including one to automatically fit the chosen programmes to the disc. Because, at my age, my sight is not as discriminating as it used to be, I can make no definitive comment on the relationship between HD and SD but there does not appear to me to be a great difference between them so perhaps the upscaling does work well: the quality of the picture is excellent and a joy to watch. I would not hesitate to recommend this product.
