does exactly what it says on the tin

Received this unit today and as promised it proved to be a very quick 'plug and play' set up. Good, simple controls, and a nice cosmetic look and feel to it. Also, most importantly of course, it pumps out the sound via my old CELEF 100w speakers. I've tried both Grunge and Joni Mitchell on it so far and they both sound as sweet as each other (oxymoron). Speaker attachments are what I call the old fashioned 'thread the copper wire into the hole and tighten the screw' type which is just what I wanted. So, all looking good so far and at a very reasonable price too.

Excellent solid build quality with punchy bass.

(5 out of 5) by Mr. M. Spiers on Aug 17, 2009 (London)
This is an excellent all-in-one unit - if you're short on space, looking for solid build quality with intuitive remote control and user-friendly functions, this is the unit for you. It's good value for money too and packs a bass punch that would give much more expensive systems a run for their money. The DAB is fantastic with scrolling text giving broadcast information via the clear, bright LED display. I bought this as a second unit for the dining room, but with a couple of Wharfedale diamond speakers, it almost out-performs my main hi-fi, and takes up considerably less space!

Good quality for the price

(5 out of 5) by A. Newell on Oct 6, 2009 (London, UK)
Admittedly I have a pretty low level of knowledge about hi-fis, but this seems like a superb bit of kit. It looks good, is solidly made and easy to use/set-up. The sound's not bad either.

Much better than my Yamaha CRX M170

(5 out of 5) by Tudor buyer on Nov 3, 2009
I had a Yamaha CD DAB receiver in the kitchen and wanted something similar for the bedroom. I always hated the Yamaha handset and the way it dealt with presets. The Onkyo is much better than the Yamaha. The handset is much easier to use. The radio presets are easy to set up and, more importantly, simple to recall using the handset. The sound is great - and also better than the Yamaha. I am very happy with the set and would recommend it. If you are not bothered by black vs silver, the silver is a few pounds cheaper

I does very well at what I wanted. Driving sound to my Bose speakers.
