Phenomenal performance. At the price, it's a steal.
What I want:
1. Intra-aural, for noise isolation. These babies do the job in that respect, and they sit comfortably in the ear with no tendency to fall out.
2. A frequency response range that starts at least at 8Hz, preferably 6Hz, for deep powerful bass. Again, Panasonic does us proud in this department with 6Hz. It amuses me considerably to see how many reviewers rave on about their Sennheisers and Sonys, most of which are very poorly endowed in this area with frequency responses starting at 12 or even 18Hz, sometimes worse.
3. Value for money. Sure, these are not audiophile 'phones like, uh, Shure, or high range Sony's. But they are more than good enough for the average listener. Performance like this is still a quantum jump ahead of most earphones supplied with mp3 players, and notably the crappy iPod 'phones, many of which are worn the wrong way round by their hapless owners!
4. Reasonable cord management. These Panasonics have an extended Y section with a sliding clip system that allows the cords from each earpiece to join at the base of the neck and then come round to the front. The system takes a bit of time to get used to, and can be challenging with scarves and coats, but once you're set up, it is a nifty system. It also leaves you with an option of just having the longer Y-section hanging in front you, if you need a little more length (e.g. for use with a laptop while you're leaning back)
5. Not look like an idiot. These 'phones are fairly unobtrusive visually, the finish is very good, the silver bits look smart and the Panasonic brand/logo looks fairly durable (they eventually wore off my previous Panasonics). The cords are a bit on the thin side, but that won't worry me if they prove to be durable. The photo on the Amazon page doesn't do the 'phones justice... they are much prettier than that.
CONCLUSION: I'll admit to being a fan of the brand since so far I've never been disappointed with a Panasonic product. These earphones continue the tradition. So if your needs approximate mine, I would thoroughly recommend this product.

brilliant
i bought these as a replacment pair for my apple ipod earphones and i jst got them today and they are brilliant.
they work perfectly once you have them on you can only hear the slightest noise from the outside world.
i get through loads of earphones they all seem to break bt these give the impression that they are going to last. hopefuly they will.

Poor sound quality
Good points:
They are very comfortable to wear.
They look the part.
Bad points:
I normally used Sennheisser CX300 but changed to these recently due to poor build quality of the Sennheisers. The sound quality of the Panasonics is very poor and is not nearly as good as the Sennheisers. The sound is distant, tinny and lacking in bass. This may be due to the very small surface area of the actual speaker in the earphone.
The cord for the earphones is also of equal length for left and right, and so the right one cannot be looped around the back of your head easily.
Would definitely not purchase again.
