I love it!
Panasonic SDR-S15 Flash Memory Camcorder With SD Card Slot - Brown
I absolutely love this little camera. The quality is great (DVD, MPEG2, 705 x 576), editing a bliss (get the little chip reader with the camera, most 'normal' card readers only read normal SD's not HC ones). The low light recording quality is very acceptably, and artificial light is pretty good too.
It easily fits on my palm, or in my handbag, and I got it in a lovely dark red colour (its not brown in my description!?); such a nice toy...The IA mode works great, the contrast variety is good too. The learning curve: from recording to youtube in less then one hr.
A few small niggles: the battery life is only 45 minutes, so I bought a second one. (Tip: buy a reputed one, a cheapo I tried did not work, and for about £8 you are on the safe side). The supplied software does not work well, but Womble's MPEG video wizard works perfectly (the smart render works well with the .mod compression mode); also there are great .mod tutorials available on the web.
If you shoot 4:3, you only need to change the extension from .mod to .mpg, and it will play perfectly in any standard player anyway. If you shoot wide screen format, a little converter is needed (SDcopy), which can obtained free from the web and its spy ware free. (I tried it).
All in all: for the price it's 5 out of 5 anytime!!
