On paper this looks like a good buy, for a Netbook you get everything you would wan't. However after about 2 weeks of use the charger died. As I didn't want to send the whole unit back I decided to buy a replacement charger. This came & worked well.

I use the Netbook in conjunction with my LG LCD TV so bought a 3.5mm stereo jack extention lead & VGA monitor lead. All worked well for about 2 weeks. Then it became impossible to switch from the Netbook screen to the LCD TV screen. Checked that it wasn't the cable, by pluging it into another monitor. Now hoping it was a software problem I contacted the Amazon free phone number only to be told that they were unable to assit with Netbooks & was given Acer contact number, not free phone. They were contacted but unable to help & was given a complicated returns procedure that involves you contacting the courier & arranging collection.

I still haven't sent it back & am not sure I can be bothered unless something else goes wrong.

In conclusion don't buy an Acer Netbook from Amazon, even if you have to pay a bit more go to your local PC World, Dixons etc. Then at least when it goes wrong you can just take it back there & get it sorted.

Other than the above problems the Netbook seems to be working well & was easy to set up & use. If it wasn't for the above problems I would probably have given it a 5 star rating.

OK unless you might use it outside

OK forgive any typos I am using this outside and erm - can't see the screen, the screen is highly reflective so if you have any light reflecting on the screen fuhgedabbout being able to see it. This has happened to me sitting on trains and also when sitting outside.
I have also found a lot of problems with programmes not closing properly and the computing not switching off when I close down and not realising this the battery get's used up.
The screen on the ASUS is better and does not reflect light. I'll give this an OK at best, several design faults (the screen being the most glaring (pun intended).
I would never by a notebook with this kind of screen ever again.

great - does exactly what it says on the box!

Bought this for my son for christmas, really pleased with it. Battery life is fantastic, screen resolution is really good. Only downside - keyboard is a little too small.

ACER ASPIRE ONE

I HAVE A DELL DESKTOP AND A TOSHIBA LAPTOP BUT HAVING RESEARCHED THE NETBOOKS AVAILABLE AT A REASONABLE PRICE I CONSULTED A FRIEND WHO IS A COMPUTER PROGRAMME DESIGNER.
HE AGREED WITH MY ANALYSIS AND AS LONG AS YOU WANT A SIMPLE NETBOOK,EASY TO USE THEN THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.
