roberts mp 53
This product looks excellent and is very well built. It has a beautiful gloss black finish which is easy to keep shiny clean. The remote control is very good especially with the ipod; you can access all the fuctions with it ,even the settings. The dab radio works very well and autotuned very easily on set up. It is perfect for a kitchen where I have mine where you want something good looking with no wires trailing. The cd player is good playing all formats no problem.
The sound quality is reasonable but you cannot compare with a even a cheap hifi setup. Having said that my kitchen is very large!
Only slight gripe is that the ipod does not charge unless the it is in use.
To summarise; a very good stylish product as good as Bose dock but with dab and cd player and looks a lot classier

Wow!
I have had the MP53 for a week now and I have to say it is a very good product. I bought the Mp-23 a while ago and thought that was good but this is much better! The remote is of a better design and seems to have a better infrared range. The remote is easy to use. Has soon as you plug the unit in it finds all the DAB stations without you having to push any buttons. The DAB reception is very good. The sound quality is slightly better than the MP-23. The bass is punchy and focused and there does'nt seem to be any mid range rattle that the MP-23 suffered with. The treble is crisp and clear. The other improvement is that the MP-53 will play HCSD cards so now I can put all my music on one 8GB card instead of being limited to 2GB SD cards. The finishing touch for me was having the ability to adjust the LCD lighting when the unit is on standby mode as they are a little bright, if you have the unit in the bedroom. All in all the MP-53 is a stylish and well designed stereo that caters well for all digital formats and is well built with good quality sound. I don't think this product can be improved in any way except maybe by the addition of a subwoofer but that's me just being picky!

same quality as a bose!
fantastic dab radio the sound is spectacular. its easy to use just plug in and it does the rest. sd card slot is a bonus you can record from the radio or cd or you can load the the card on your pc and play back all your tracks.there are 2 alarms to wake you up (his/hers) you can even set it to weekdays only.we looked at getting the bose but the sound quality was so good at a quarter of the price the bose was not worth it.

Great but you have to use remote controller...
Build quality is excellent... features are excellent... but a little annoying that you have to use the remote controller for selecting function.

Suits us both!
Very pleased with this product. It looks stylish. My wife wanted somewhere to easily play CDs, whilst I have a lot of music on my laptop. So this gives us the best of both worlds. Playing a CD couldn't be easier - whilst I can copy a whole load of tracks on to a memory stick and plug it in to make up a playlist. I tend to do this rather than connect my MP3 player. We use the DAB radio a lot too.
