Roberts MP53 is very good indeed
I bought this (from my local independent retailer who recommended it based on my pretty vague idea of what I wanted) about a month ago and it is very very good - sound quality is excellent.
Setup of the DAB stations is very easy (to the extent that I thought I must have missed something) in that basicaly all you do is plug it in and turn it on!
It's pretty intuitive for the radio/cdplayer so these work without looking at the instructions.
iPod dock works using the iPods own controls (again without reading the manual - but two minutes with the manual allows you to use the remote for all the ipod functions, equally 30 seconds with the manual allows you to preprogramme DAB stations. The unit charges the iPod as you use it as well (at the risk of stating the obvious!)
I haven't used the recording to/playing from USB stick/SD card - or played anything from these inputs but going by track record they will be v. easy.
I paid £280 for mine - but actually the professional advice was worth the extra money, without it I would have spent £100-£150 on a far far inferior piece of kit.

Fabulous
Was torn between the Bose and the Roberts - right decision was made and am absolutely delighted with the Roberts.
Sound is amazing - and wish I'd made the change earlier.
Quirky looks - but part of the appeal!
Highly recommended!

Great Product
Great product, if you, like me you are looking for a plug & play music system, for a decent price...this is it. it has a good rich sound, personaly i could do with a bit more bass & volume. But to achive that i would have to pay double the price & have the traditional design of a box with separate speakers and some spaghetti at the back, i think it is far better buy than the Bose with more features & the DAB radio is less messy & it is far cheaper. Very happy with the purchase & good price from Amazon

Her today and gone tomorrow
Bought this form Amazon Market place after reading all the good reviews. It arrived 2 days later. The unit was lovely - nice looking and fantastic sound. Sadly within 24 hours the screen was dead and could not be revived. Roberts have a system in place for sorting out problems but were rather let down by their dismissive, verging on rude, customer services adviser. The positive is that they have a contract with parcel force which will pick the unit up today, but it will take between 7 & 10 working days to repair. Should this be necessary for a just out of the box unit that is meant to be a quality item?

Just the Job for the Kitchen
I bought the MP53 based on reviews on Amazon and have to say I'm extremely happy with it. The DAB reception works well in a room that has struggled with other DAB units (I get full signal strength on nearly every channel). The SD card slot supports SDHC cards and I use a 16GB card to store and play music. There is a limit of 99 albums for both SD card and USB memory giving 198 in all plus however much is stored on the iPod. All can be connected at the same time. 16GB is just right for storing up to 99 albums at top quality (320kbps mp3s) and they sound great. All sources give tag information eg artist, title etc.
As others have mentioned, the remote isn't as intuitive as it could be. Also as soon as you select either SD or USB input it starts playing the first track on the first album leaving me frantically searching for the pause button so I can select the album I want to listen to.
Overall well worth the price and you won't be disappointed.
