An excellent DAB radio

(5 out of 5) by Ms. Book Worm on Mar 13, 2009
I recently bought this radio after having been very disappointed with an Intempo model (PG-01). The sound quality is crystal clear and there is no background noise as with the Intempo radio, vital for me as I mostly listen to classical and jazz music while I work. The radio is a good-looking model and easy to use and set up. It is a good size too, comparing favourably to other radios of a similar price which tend to be a little bulkier. The now playing feature is excellent for finding out the name of the current piece of music or song. It is easy to navigate between stations. The sleep function, which allows you to set the radio to play for a certain amount of time before it switches itself off, is a bonus for me.

I heartily recommend this radio. Although it is a little pricier than others, it is worth the extra in my opinion.

Good looks, good sound

(4 out of 5) by R. R. Adams on Apr 24, 2009 (London)
I recently compared the sound quality of this radio with the Pure 1S in a well-known high street retailer. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't think the Pure model was unduly bassy but the overall sound was rather muddy compared to the Sony radio which was crisp and crystal clear. However, there is a distinct lack of any bass with the Sony which is perhaps okay for listening to classical music, but with jazz and naturally rock, this is a major drawback. That said, it's probably unlikely that there's a better DAB radio on the market for under £60. The sleeper function is very handy for turning itself off when snuggled up under the duvet. Recommended for sheer clarity alone.

excellent radio

(5 out of 5) by Wendy Shaw on Jun 2, 2009 (cheshire, england)
Bought this radio for my Aunt whos a bit of a technophobe and even she found it extremely easy to use. Nice contemporary look which will go with any decor. The sound from this radio is fantastic and dosent distort as you wind up the volume. A great all rounder, and would definately recommend.

sounds good, looks good

(5 out of 5) by J. Mears on May 31, 2009 (Oxford, UK)
I bought one of these radios to use in my kitchen, to listen to while I cook. Mostly I use it for radio 3 and radio 4. The sound quality is very good, and it seems very solidly made. I quite like the slightly retro appearance.

The only shame is that you can't switch it right off from the front panel, you have to that at the mains socket. But I think that is usual for appliances of this type.

Great DAB radio - Cheaper in Marks and Sparks

(5 out of 5) by J. Cross on Sep 6, 2009 (Sunny London UK)
I did a lot of searching for best price on this radio. Just before I was going to order online, I popped into a large Marks and Spencer (with the wife on a supremely dull shopping trip) and to my surprise this was on sale for £48.90. Bargain! I love Amazon, but the price was too good to miss.

I'm a bit of a Sony snob and this has not disappointed.

Superb DAB, with good clear crisp sound. Good volume too. Presets are easy to set and being a man I set the whole thing up without the instructions in 2 minutes. Could have done it in 1 minute, with the instructions, but what fun would that be. Good FM radio. Could have done with a radio alarm option, but mine went in the kitchen and it is perfect.
