Not that good

I must admit to having bought it based on price and previous Amazon reviews. Its okay but its just not as good (in my experience) as some other reviewers claim.

Why? Well, it plays discs most of the time but is prone to sometimes locking up - not what I'd expect from a Sony after 2 months of use. If this gets worse I will refund but it has left me disappointed. This is not what you expect from a Sony as the build is not usual Sony quality.

Even so, its a good looking player, simple to use and cheap; ideal for a spare bedroom but I'd probably go for a more robust player for the main room.

Good player, hope it lasts!

(4 out of 5) by KJ on Jun 25, 2009
This is a good player which plays most formats, unlike some other players which aer more expensive.
My only problem is that some DVDs do not load first time, they take alot of time and it just seems to "hang". There is apparently not anything wrong with the disc as after a couple of tries they usually work.
Another review mentioned that their player only lasted five months and then stopped playing any disc. Being a Sony product I would hope the get more use of it than this - but it this happens to anyone, send the product back for replacement of refund as this is clearly not acceptable as the player is not fit for purpose and apart from the Sale of Goods Act (which gives consumers protection for up to six years, not one year), most retailers provide a one year warranty in addition to your statutory rights. I had a Philips DVD player which stopped working properly after about 8 months and got a refund.

This is EXCELLENT

(5 out of 5) by Paul Winn on Sep 7, 2009
I baught this amazing Sony DVD player for my week day apartment. I have always been impressed with Sony DVD players. At my weekend home, I have a Bang and Olufsen DVD1 player which cost £750 yes £750! There is nothing the Bang & Olufsen does what the Sony doesn't do. Im incredibly impressed with this little Sony even the remote control is of a good quality and it controls my Samsung LED LCD TV. I intend to buy the Sony S360 blu-ray player in time but for now THIS LITTLE DVD PLAYER IS SIMPLY EXCELLENT and that's coming from a guy who is used to using a Bang & Olufsen player at 20 times the price. 5 out of 5 EXCELLENT if you want a DVD player this is the one makes a lovely birthday present for a good friend or family member! Njoy you will love it!
