HP W2228H 22" Widescreen Monitor

(4 out of 5) by F. Holmes on Nov 13, 2008 (Yarm, UK)
Deciding to upgrade from a cheap and cheerful 19" to a 24" or 22" presented a world of choice. One of my considerations was an excellent display coupled to an ability to adjust height and tilt. Enter the HP Pavilion range.

I loved the 24" but realised the size was too big for my restrictive office space so plumped for the 22" W2228. Let me say it is well put together with classy looks and solid looking glass screen. On Screen colours are bright and vibrant combined with an easy to use set of firmware. Blacks looked fine to me but my use for photography is limited to happy snaps and the occasional Photoshop Elements creation. The response time of 3ms created no blurring when watching movies or playing games. Setting up the monitor and adjusting it was a doddle. Adjustment of this monitor is excellent with a sophisticated smooth operating and solid height and tilt mechanism. In built speakers are weak when compared to my external Labtec speakers but are functional for those not bothered too much about sound quality. Bonus: it has 2 USB points available from the built in hub.

Down side is you will need to purchase a DVI cable as only an analogue VGA and HDMI cables are enclosed. The screen does produce glare if used in bright daylight but in dimmed conditions this wasn't an issue.

There are cheaper monitors out there but if you want something that gives you clean crisp images, has a bit of style and is easy to set up, this monitor might be for you.

yummmmm!!!!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. M. C. Wall on Mar 19, 2009 (London)
I wanted a monitor that produced a beautiful picture plus also looked good when it was switched off - enter the W2228H. This was the first monitor and computer (A6355 Pavillion)I've bought, mostly for the kids homework etc. With the Creative T10 speakers (which are also Fab + same gloss black finish.) The whole package looks greeeeat!! The monitor is also vividly crisp and clear and oozzees style - HP's designers have class. Only had this package for a few months and the whole family love it and you can't go wrong with HP as you can see everything is very high quality. I'd recommend the monitor - yes it's more expensive but as the monitor "is" the computer and you are going to use it lots you may as well get something which is easy to view, use and basically admire. The moitor and Pavillion + creative T10 = sexy computer!! Enjoy.

Alleged tech support is rubbish

(2 out of 5) by Wrinkly on Jan 15, 2009 (Under the LHR flightpath)
This monitor may be be the best in the world. But heaven help you if you have a query before buying or a problem afterwards, because HP's technical support is rubbish. When you dial in you are messed about from baseplate to breakfast time. In the end I gave up after being directed from one dept to another 4 times, and found the solutions elsewhere.
