Magnificent Mac

(5 out of 5) by N. Davis on Mar 18, 2009
On receipt of my new shiny mac i have to say that its an absolute delight. From the moment you open the box its simple clean and straight forward to start using.

I have owned various Laptops of varying brands all running some kind of microsoft software, and start to endure the long loading times and waiting, its a real bore. I decided to take the leap and move over to Mac and i can honestly say i will not look back.

Its fantastic to have all of the software pre installed, it even came with a fully charged battery, i had to install ilife09 but that took all of 2 minutes and again simple and easy to do.

To be fair though i must report one problem i have had, after about 4 weeks the Optical disc drive broke and wouldnt read discs and kept on spitting them out.
I reported the problem over the phone to apple and after some initial over the phone diagnostic checks apple promptly told me where my nearest authorised dealer was and offered to REPLACE NOT FIX!, the drive immediately.
The service was speedy and second to none,

living with the mac has been a joy, i have had no problems with software compatibility and i can connect all of my periferals no problems, i have purchased office for mac 09, but that is only because of work compatibilty, otherwise im sure that iwork would be absolutelly no probs,

all in all im chuffed and wont ever buy a windows based laptop/desktop again.

best buy

(5 out of 5) by M. Brett on Jul 21, 2009 (Ireland)
If you are thinking of buying a laptop buy a mac i have a 2g macbook never had any bother with it and we have two more macs in the house and they are brill. They llok cool everyone always says how they look so good and they are so quick . Its obvious why the price is a little higher that pc's coz the materials are better quality and while a pc may last 5 years a mac will last 8-10 at least. I dont think i could ever go back to pcs anytime i go on one of them i just think how neat and compact the mac is to the pc!!

Good looking, sleek and intuitive

(4 out of 5) by D. Betts on Mar 25, 2009 (Cambridge)
I am not a Mac-man, I am primarily a PC User. My wife is a devout Mac'er and she bought this. What I like about Mac's is the fact you turn it on and it works, you import some music and it files it all for you in an orderly fashion. Video and pics are a cinch. For the non-computer literate, macs are best.

It's still frustrating when you can't get "under the hood" easily but the need to do this with technology these days reduces each day - although recovering MP3's from my iPod back to the Mac (we lost our old one due to a critical failure) is possibly too tricky for most people without extensive guides or pre-reading!

Macbooks

It's excellent, truly so, (as indeed was my G4 ibook before it). Do believe the hype totally, and as an OS, OSX is so much better than the competition.
The only downside is the 2Ghz version doesn't have a lit keyboard, but I can forgive that, given how bright the screen is. A lovely product.

Mactastic!

As a designer, i've worked on Macs since 1989 (starting on the SE doing pharmacy labels) and have followed the development of the industry favourite closely. I've been getting a new Mac for the last 10 years, but never quite got there for one reason or another.

However, i realised my dream eventually, and boy, am i glad i did!
