It does exactly what it says on the tin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have just bought this item and WOW what a piece of kit. I know all of you budding computer experts and mega gamers might disagree, and yes you can buy better machines than this, BUT (and it is a big BUT) you can not get this sort of system, with this sort of setup, at this low price, and don't be fooled, you are not wasting your money. I am, what I would call, a medium gamer and I am an ICT Techy and I have installed a few upto date games and i have had no problems with playing them online or normally. The graphics card is more than capable to do what most people want, the Blueray drive is amazing and very simple to connect too a HDTV and use as a player, you have plenty of Ram and sufficiant HDD space, infact Acer have built a great system. All in all, this is a good buy, I don't regret at all in buying this item, infact I think this is a bargin buy. So if you have lots of money and can afford over 1k then buy something better, but if you are like me, then buy this, a few good ways to help with the credit crunch. You can not go wrong!

Beware Spec is not quite as listed !!!
This is a very good value laptop for the money with great spec for the price, however it has been listed here as having a ATI mobility HD 3650-512mb graphic card, which is a mid range card well capable of gaming but does in fact have a ATI mobility HD 3470-256mb, which is a lower class card & isn't really capable for gaming at descent frame rates. So if gaming is not your thing this is a very good spec laptop but if you were purchasing this for gaming with the illusion that it has the HD 3650, like I did & had to return for a refund, look elsewhere at something like the Acer Aspire 6920G which does have the HD 3650 installed.

Acer Aspire 5920G
Bought 2 of these as christmas gifts and like the previous review says, the graphics card isn't as advertised.
Apart from that, it's a great piece of kit.
My son plays online and to test it out i loaded World of Warcraft on it and had no problems at all, in fact it seems to look a bit better on a PC than it does on my Apple Mac.
This is a great buy for anyone with a "lowish" budget.
Everything else is as advertised, 4GB Ram, 250GB HDD, Blue-ray player and even a webcam. You won't find a better spec at this price.

A desktop stuffed into a laptop
With the 5920 Acer have taken a great desktop pc and crammed it into a laptop. I was looking around at different laptops that could suit my needs; a few games, watching videos (downloads, DVD and (a bonus) Blu Ray) and just the other non taxing things: word documents and things for university. I was looking for the best specs at the best price, and with a homebuilt computer I knew what I was looking for. I most definitely found it.
This laptop does everything you need it to and comes with a lot of things installed and ready for you to use: Microsoft Office, McAfee Security, video software and disk burning software. This is great for a lot of people who would only have to go to the trouble of installing these programs themselves. The e-performance program is great, if not only for the CPU and RAM monitor you can have on your desktop at all times.
The screen is beautiful but can be unpractical when using outside of with glare from the sun. Don't let that put you off because that situation doesnt come up too often; just reposition yourself so the sun isn't hitting the screen.
Also the fact Acer have stuck a blu ray player in this device could and should be a major selling point; the bluray media is quickly becoming more and more common and will soon take over from DVDs (just like DVDs did with VHS). The drive coupled with the HDMI connection means this can be your Blu Ray player aswell. Even if you don't play it through your HD TV, it looks impeccable (and completely worth shelling an extra fiver each film for). The 2GHz processor, 4GB RAM and HD 3470 Graphics Card are completely sufficient in handling it aswell, as they are with pretty much every application I throw at it, including many games.
The most surprising thing about this laptop was the sound. The sound is unbelievable for a laptop, no tinny sounds, and a great deep bass (I recommend sticking on some noise blocking headphones for an amazingly deep sound).
The only tiny tiny drawback was the fact that the bluetooth device is missing from it: two versions were released, one with bluetooth and one without. But when am I ever going to need to use Bluetooth? And if I do I can pick up a bluetooth USB for pennies.
In addition, Amazon's service is fantastic, as usual, so if, somehow, you are new to using Amazon then do not have any hesitations. They are fantastic.
It's a 5 star without a doubt, so if you were hesitating or thinking of splashing another 200-300 for a similar laptop (spec wise) then dont bother. I can say that this laptop is unbelievable and you can't fail to be impressed.

Great spec but flawed product
I bought this based on spec for price but have now returned it.
I bought this product and the day after receiving it, the touchpad turned its scrolling function off. I called Acer who asked me to reinstall the driver. This didn't work, then I was told to do a recovery. This worked but the problem reoccurred. I called them up again, they went through a way of reinstalling the driver, which finally worked but caused me to manually run the touchpad driver through a prompt in windows. Not something I wanted to live with. Its like my PC always asking me if I want to run the software to enable my mouse, at startup. The error came back again and the scroll function on the touchpad and the 4-way scroll button both turned off. Called Acer who recommended a recovery. I told them that my 250gb hard drive might as well be 10mb if I have to keep formatting it to resolve the problem, and lose all my existing data or resort to backing it up. They agreed and told me to return it. I think it was just the technician's way of getting me of the phone as most calls to them last 30 seconds as they quickly tell you what to do and leave you to figure it out.
Amazon are spot on with their returns policy. The product is not recommended but buying from Amazon is. You can really buy with confidence.
I will buy another laptop of lower spec but the same price. You get what you pay for and in this case that was what happened.
