This is my first digital camcorder (my last was a two-hander) and what a difference. I'm a still photo person, and always have Canon gear (not the cheapest, but I get the quality I pay for without exception). The choice of digital camcorder is more business than private, but will be used by both. Having checked out all the websites and Which? I needed to see and feel the camera. It was then that the FS100 said "no decision to make". It felt solid, fitted perfectly for both me and my wife (with vastly different hands). It arrived without a card to record onto (minor annoyance) but was so quick and easy to set up and operate that my techno-fears were totally unfounded. Sound is as good as I need it (recording meetings), as is picture quality. Some reports say these could be better - but they're fine for what I need, and I'll always have a decent still camera with me, so the still image is a non-issue. Simple, smart, comfortable and fit for my purpose at a pretty good price - A great purchase.

I am very pleased with the Canon, it is very small and light and simplicity itself to use. The battery lasts a long time and the SD cards cheap and easy to carry spares. The zoom is powerful and picture quality is good providing there is sufficient light, however in low light the results are poor, this is why it only gets 4 stars. Another annoying snag is when I take it out of my pocket I sometimes open the battery door by mistake. In summary, unless you really need to film in very low light the FS100 is a great piece of kit and hence highly recommended.
