This sound dock is not exclusively for IPod players and IPhones. Although it is fitted with a mini jack input socket and supplied mini jack lead, it will also accept and play a "Sandisk Sansa View" via the docking port (Sandisk use the same connector on this model as Apple).

The only drawback with this speaker is a small amount of distortion at max volume, but as pointed out by other reviewers this does not detract from the quality of the product within it's price range JBL On Stage IIIP Portable Loudspeaker Dock for iPod and iPhone 3G (Remote Control - Battery or A/C )

I must say that this speaker is the best bit of kit I have ever bought for my ipod. I was very dubious at first, thinking it was too small to deliver a good punch, but how wrong I was, it's fantastic. If you're looking for a speaker for your ipod,look no further you will not regret it.

I purchased this speaker for my office at work. It has fore filled the function of offering excellent sound quality at an affordable price and can be locked away easily at night.

I wanted a dock which was suitable for iphone 3g without the need for airplane mode, as I don't want to lose the ability to receive calls/messages when it is in use. When I first docked my iphone, I did actually receive a message that "device is not iphone compatible", but after undocking and checking my iphone firmware was up to date, this issue resolved immediately. Overall, very happy with my purchase, and the sound is excellent for a device this size. I would certainly recommend it.

what can I say, having looked around for some time for decent speakers for the iphone these really are fab for the price

Much like other reviewers I had looked at Bose and thought they were far too expensive so I was looking for something with good clarity of sound and ideally bass (which so many small speakers lack) for a reasonable price

straight out the box I was really impressed, there is a number of molded plastic shapes that fit into the JBL to allow you to snuggly fit most Apple isomething devices and the remote is simple and handy

I played a range of albums from Fleet Foxes to Metallica and the sound was fantastic, with exceptional bass from such small speakers. You will find yourself looking around the device to figure out how it does it!

I would agree that the little remote can be a bit fiddly to use on the iphone, but that's mainly to do with how you have to browse through Apple's menus. Plus occasional the iphone will complain the device is not compatible with the iphone (which it is). You can easily put the phone into airplane mode and off you go

Some will say that £100 is a lot of money (which it is) but on balance it is a good investment for the return, cheaper speakers (for me) really dont have the clarity and bass that this does
