JBL Rocks

(5 out of 5) by Dominic on Mar 19, 2009
Small but perfectly formed ipod touch 2G sound.I listened to all the systems in the apple shop
and this one stood out bang for falling GB pound. Only bose stood out as better for much more
money. Portable and loud enough for the average room. Convenient, you can also plug any laptop,
audio device into its minijack socket. Amazingly good bass for such a small unit, and amazon
has the best price as usual! You'd think the similar system with a radio option would sound as good.
It didn't! Just get it!

Good build and sound quality

(4 out of 5) by Darren Welsman on Feb 20, 2009 (Devon, UK)
Having read reviews for the majority of ipod speaker docs, chose this for my home office, mainly due to the lack of negative reviews and size, the general consensus of reviewers is that the system sounds good out of the box. I am always a little nervous of buying audio equipment without audition, however the JBL On Stage 200iD has not disappointed. While not a replacement for my main hi-fi (a very unfair comparison) a more than adequate system for on a desk. Good clear vocals, bass is present but not substantial (albeit impressive for something so small). Most impressively the sound is well balanced. In fact in a bedroom/office (12'x10') this speaker doc is a pleasure to listen to even from 12' away. Sound could be more spacious and the stereo sound stage could be greater. However even if this doesn't improve as the drivers break in, I anticipate a great deal of enjoyable listening. I grabbed one while priced at £99.99 and consider it very good value. The unit is nicely finished and easy to use...plug, play and enjoy. NB remote lag, commented upon by many reviewers, is noticeable but not in my opinion intrusive; ability to operate all menus and select albums remotely (within viewing distance) is preferable to pressing buttons on docked ipod. No USB pass through. Charged iPod Video (5th gen) without trouble, with unit switched on or off as long as connected to mains.

JBL Onstage 200iD

(4 out of 5) by J. Curnow on Jun 1, 2009 (Winchester, England)
I was sceptical that this product would perform as well as some of the reviews that I had read. However, I was proven wrong. This dock has fantastic sound, with a rich base. On top of that, the iphone functions well with the sound being cut when the phone rings. There are none of the interference problems with docks that are not 100% compatible with the iphone. What's more, the phone is charged while it is in the dock.

Great item. Really please with my purchase, the dock station has great sound and is easy to use. Would recommend to anyone looking to purchase an IPOD docking station.

A Sleek and Designer Look at a Mid-Range Price

(5 out of 5) by A. K. Pitts on Oct 25, 2009 (Nottingham, UK.)
I had spent I while scouring the reviews for an ipod dock to fulfill my requirements and I am certain I made the right choice. I had looked at the cheaper end of the spectrum such as the Logic3 MIP107K i-Station7, but I found that even regardless of the reviews the system in the picture itself looked badly built. I also checked out the higher and more expensive systems of which Bose is the market leader; Bose SoundDock Series II. However, these branded systems seemed needlessly expensive when I investigated the reviews and that is when the mid-range JBL docks seemed very appealing.

The build quality on this model which I bought is fantastic. It feels sturdy, the material quality appears to be excellent and the bass powerful for a system of this size. I use it in a large sized indoor area and when appropriate I can fill the room with sound! I use the dock daily and since it charges my iPod touch I only ever need to plug it into my computer for synchronisation.

The system comes with various plastic adapters to fit into the docking port depending on your model of iPod/iPhone. It can be irritating if you like to keep your player in a protective case as if it is thick you will most likely need to remove it every time you wish to dock it. Other than this overly critical observation, this dock will not let you down in the home or workplace. A small stylish remote is also included, but again a small peeve is that when you use it to skip through tracks the iPod screen does not 'wake-up' and so you cannot see your playlist to select a song.

Other black docks in the series which seemed tempting were the slightly more expensive bigger model JBL ONSTAGE-400iD, and another dock which is billed as the same as the model on this page but with an alarm: JBL ONTIME-200iD.

Personally I prefer the tidy, modern and sleek black look of this model. Either way, JBL would appear to make quality mid-range iPod docks!
