Good value
I bought this item new for £15, it comes with a USB extension cable and driver installation DVD. The instructions are a little hard to follow, but with perseverance everything was installed within 20 minutes. The cables attached to the unit mirror those on your VHS or TV (ie female connectors) so you'll need some of the standard male-to-male cables that are provided free with most digital video equipment (or an S-video cable). I recorded a 2-minute clip on my first attempt. The programme ran smoothly on a 1.5ghz Acer laptop with 750 RAM. The provided editing suite isn't `professional' standard but perfectly suited to my needs.... and for £15 I'm more than happy.

A complete waste of money
Tried this with both laptop and desktop pc. Never been able to get it work, non-existent customer support and instructions are no help.

will this work?
I just want to watch VHS on my PC. Can I use this to connect my VHS player to my PC and watch the tapes on computer screen?.

It won't transfer your old videos to DVD
I purchased this without reading the first review. Lesson learnt!
Don't buy this if you want to turn your old Videos into DVD's because it doesn't work. It will transfer from a video camera but you may as well just buy the DV cable for that camera.
A bit of a waste of time to be honest and the video editing is quite poor and clunky also.

Make sure you have the right connections
I would double check if your VHS player has the right connections as shown before purchase. Not the thing to go for if you want to copy your VHS tapes, that you have recorded from the telly for example, onto DVDs via the USB port on a computer to save space. May be posssibly ideally suited to make a DVD from a camcorder movie with a computer DVD burning drive. I think in the first instance it is best to go for a DVDR all in one machine and pay the extra money and then there are no possible problem connections involved and the quality will be as good as the original VHS tape.
