You get what you ask for:

This battery is big! It has three times the capacity of the standard battery, and takes three times as much space. Basically, I now have a battery with a netbook attached to it. Just imagine that a second battery pack is added behind the standard pack, and a third battery pack underneath. If that is what you want, get it!

Turns the AspireOne into a seriously useful piece of kit

(5 out of 5) by Chris Coulson on Nov 25, 2008 (London, UK)
Ultra-portable devices like the AspireOne absolutely beg for lengthy runtimes away from an AC adapter, and the 2200mAh battery supplied as standard with most Aspires simply doesn't cut it with its 2 (3 if you're careful) runtime. This 6600mAh monster changes all of that, with runtimes in the 6-8 hour region you can now take your Aspire off charge first thing in the morning without worrying that it'll die on you halfway through the day unless you lug the adapter around with you.

So yes, as the other reviews and the photos suggest, it's big. If the aesthetics of the Aspire particulary appeal to you, then you may be put off by having a big lumpy battery pack hanging off the back like a slightly poorly colour/texture-matched bulbous growth. On the other hand, if you regard your Aspire as a tool, then you may find yourself really growing to love the way the battery pack acts both as an angled keyboard rest and a handgrip - holding the Aspire in one hand whilst you type/mouse away with the other hand is now quite comfortable and secure.

Since getting this battery, my Aspire has been turned from being a cute little toy into a serious mobile workhorse I can take out for the day and actually *use* without wondering when the low battery warnings would start to pop up. Sure, it'd be nice if it could be a bit lighter and if the outer casing was a better match for the colour/texture of my blue Aspire, but these are just nit-picks. This battery does exactly what it sets out to do, significantly extend the runtime of your Aspire, and if that's what you need, then you need one of these batteries.

Solid quality but heavy...

(5 out of 5) by S. Fisher on Jan 15, 2009 (UK)
A very solid product, as the other reviews have mentioned. Good battery life even with heavy usage (6 hour average), I just took a 5 hour train trip a couple of days ago and the battery lasted despite pretty continuous use.
The downsides are its bulk (beware to buy a sleeve or case that will allow it to fit in, battery still attached), and that it does seem to make the Aspire One that bit heavier.
On balance I'm more than happy to trade a little weight (with the battery attached it doesn't actually make the Aspire One weight more than the, slightly more expensive competition, NC-10...) for better portability (less need to recharge as often).

A great enhancement for your Acer Aspire One!

(5 out of 5) by L. Brown on Jan 10, 2009 (UK)
Well of course it sticks out at the back - you can't put a quart into a pint pot! Some of it (two thirds) must reside outside, because there's three times the number of batteries in it! It's no big deal. When attached, the 'One' still fits into the supplied wallet, sort of, and actually benefits from a now slightly upward-tilting keyboard, which makes it nicer to type. I now have a seriously useful piece of kit, with more battery life than anyone else's laptop! True, it's a different shade of blue to the top of the case, and I wonder why they didn't make it black like the original, but hey, you won't see it with the lid up! Buy one today!

Brilliant battery

(5 out of 5) by Dr. Gordon W. Herd on Jan 13, 2009
I don't think I've ever been moved to write a review for Amazon before, but this battery is so useful I've decided to do so.

The main role of "netbooks" is surely to provide the benefits of a laptop without the latter's considerable bulk? The main sites I imagine I will use my newly acquired Aspire One are places like trains and airports where access to a power point is, at best, patchy! The battery supplied with the machine is pretty feeble and really reduces the usefulness of the computer.

The extended battery is much bulkier and heavier than the supplied one, but the charge lasts so long you can tap away happily without worrying when the dreaded "battery power low" warning is going to appear. Being a bit "brainwashed" when it comes to brands, I was slightly concerned when I realised the battery wasn't manufactured by Acer, but then I noticed that the supplied battery wasn't either!

I would highly recommend this battery if you want to get any serious use out of your Aspire One.
