Most Helpful First | Newest FirstGreat piece of kit
Arrived on the 12th September. First impressions box looks impressive. The touch did not disappoint. This latest version has a slimmer profile, a speaker, external volume control and comes with version 2.1 although I still had to update the firmware.
Very similar spec to the 1st version. Easy to use and loads apps to download. The internet browser is easy to zoom in with and connecting to home wifi worked fine. Loads of applications to add from itunes, lots of them free. Downloaded a video and that looks great too.
You do need to connect the touch to a PC with itunes first as you cannot just connect to wifi and use it without sync'ing it first.
Well worth the money a great gadget you will have fun playing with for a long time to come.
Battery life - Had it on all day today listerning to music and connect to my home wifi. Lastest about 13 hours before warning that the battery was down to 20%. Obviously if I had turned off the wifi it would have lasted longer
Nice piece of tech, not a nice iPod
The iPod touch has caused a revolution with how we look at personal music players nowadays. Sure, it's great if you want to go on the internet, watch some videos on YouTube, download some songs or apps of iTunes directly to the iPod touch itself; it's not so great if all you want is a trendy music player.
Design- It's thin but long, you can tell you've got it in your pocket and it's almost impossible to go jogging or to the gym and be comfortable with it. Also, it's black, not so nice if you want something funky.
Gadgety- It's a pain if you just want to listen to music; there are so many gadgets here and there, especially if you add apps and then if you put it on music and don't press hold the touch screen changes songs a million times.
It is a nice piece of kit if you are looking for the latest piece of kit and will no doubt be a future contender for devices such as Sony's PSP but if you want something stylish and compact that just plays your music, do not pick this! The iPod nano will be far more suitable.
Superb
I dont like Apple products generally, but the new Ipod Touch is the coolest and most functional item I have ever bought. It really has that "wow!" factor and does everything you would want from an MP3 and then loads more. Plus you can easily, finally, load mp3s from your computer to the IPOD. You can surf the internet easily and comfortably - no more fiddling about this makes surfing on a small device practical and simple. Viewing youtube is also a big boost and it looks great. Same comments go for the email, photo viewer, map etc. etc... It is just one superbly designed piece of equipment that seems to know exactly what the customer wants. It is a little expensive but I paid 229 euros for the 8GB and that was from europe and I must say it is worth it. Hats off to Apple.
Eagerly anticipated...
I have waited eagerly for this iPod. The base model is practically identical apart from a few changes. A speaker allows for quiet sound to be played from the base of the iPod which is ideal for listening on the bus, with some friends but, the bass is very scratchy on loud output, but nice to see the inclusion of it. The unit, now has a curved back which Apple claims "is easier too hold", but I have no opinion on it myself. The addition of a side volume control is good as well. Other addition includes a Nike+ receiver built in for avid runners, and a new software update, with the update of Genius software. This allows you to choose a song, and for the iPod to choose up to 100 songs from your iPod to create play-lists, quickly and easily.
The interface comes to life when in a Wi-Fi zone, allowing the maximum utility of the player. Connection to free internet allows YouTube, email, the latest live updates of weather and stocks, as well as google map function. The app store allows free application downloads, others have to paid for however. With the standard music and video browsing available, easy to access your music and videos - expectable with iPods.
However, I feel that the 2nd gen lacks a certain something to make it stand out in a crowd like the 1st gen did. I don't know what I would like to see, I just feel the unit could include another 'blow your socks off' feature
Overpriced at Amazon
Can't fault the product and the external speaker is handy for sharing those videos around the pub without the need for earphones. However, the rrp for this is £219 so until the price drops I suggest you look elsewhere
