excellent

(5 out of 5) by lmh on Dec 31, 2008 (uk)
Was given this for christmas. Ridiculously easy to use. If you have downloaded anything in wrong format inc. Itunes easy convert via included software. Longest bit was battery charge everything else just open media player click on sync, add songs to sync list and you're done.

Only minuses must have faulty ears as don't get on too well with ear buds also needs protective skin to protect screen.

Not sure why anyone would bother with ipod!

Over all fab (and won't deafen yourself either as there is safety volume limiter)

Awesome!

(5 out of 5) by Ms. M. H. Johnston on Mar 14, 2009 (Edinburgh)
This is my second Sony MP3 player. My first one use sonic stage, which wasnt the most user friendly. BUT THIS ONE USES WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. Pretty much the reason why I went for it, and the fact that its red (its got a bit of a pink ting in the flesh tho) Its so easy to use. Just plug it in to your computer and Drag and Drop.

Excellent quality and a good price

(5 out of 5) by S. Coles on Mar 9, 2009 (Northants, UK)
I spent a long time looking at different MP3/4s, reluctant to buy the fashionable Ipod even though I like the look and feel of them, because I felt that they are far more highly priced than other makes for similar memory etc. I read the reviews and was impressed by the opinions about sound quality etc, so decided on the Sony.

Having received it, I am extremely pleased: it's a good memory size, the earphones are very comfortable (a first for me), sound quality is amazing, it's really easy to use, and looks and feels great. The only downside was finding a speaker dock which would charge the MP4 as well - everywhere only stocks ones for Ipods, a real pain. I ended up buying the Sony dock from Amazon, which wasn't a bad price when I compared it to the Ipod ones. That's neat too, so I'm a very happy bunny!

Very Good iPod alternative

(4 out of 5) by U. H. Burney on Jul 30, 2009 (London, UK)
Had it for a month now, and from what I gather

Pros:
- Impressive sound quality, IMHO much better than the iPod Nano
- Comes with good earphones and 3 different ear bud sizes
- Good choices of Equalisers and Sound Settings
- Play all sorts of Audio and Video files at good frame rates
- FM Radio
- Supports BBC iPlayer (selected videos)
- The Content Transfer software available is very easy to use
- The SensMe (auto-assign playlists according to mood) application is a very nifty way of skipping through tracks that don't suit your current mood
- Size and shape of player is much more appealing than the nano

Cons:
- (Specific to this product) IT'S NOT RED; it's a very dark pink! Not exactly what I was waiting for
- As per the rule of file size conversions, it's 7.1GB not 8GB
- The Media Manager software available is flimsy and not user friendly. I very much prefer to ignore it altogether
- If you want to customise your player aesthetically, you are very limited with the Sony Walkman series. This is where the iPod line outshines Sony
- The SensMe application isn't reliable, nor is it customisable
- The USB wire to connect to the PC is Sony-specific, hence if you lose/break it, you have to dish out £10+ for them

Sony MP4 Walkman NWZ-638F

(5 out of 5) by Ralph Ellis on Mar 29, 2009 (Northwich Cheshire)
Although I havn't explored all this MP4 has to offer yet, I am very pleased so far with the functions I have tried. The sound quality is first class and the FM radio is also excellent. Reception on Local Radio
is brilliant (even if the station is not so Local!)
I am a big fan of SONY and I have 4 LCD TVs which are excellent also.I also have a Sony Digital camera.
Can't wait to get round to trying the other functions as soon as time allows
