Sony hits the mark

(5 out of 5) by BarryB on Jan 31, 2009 (UK)
I have owned a number of MP3 players over the years, and being an ex minidisc user that was the benchmark they had to live up to.

This little Sony player is like minidisc without the horrid Sonic Stage and will be replacing my 3G iPhone as my primary music player, it is that good.

Sonically it is excellent, especially the equaliser options, which refine the sound without distorting it, yes I'm looking at you iPod/ iPhone. Can't comment on the buds supplied as I use a pair of Sony D77 Eggos.

Charging as mentioned uses a proprietary USB connection, which is a pain and the only minus point, which is basically a non issue due to the battery life.

I sync'd my AAC (non protected) music collection using Media Monkey, my preferred music management software on PC which was a breeze.

Radio auto tunes easily and reception was good.

Well done Sony on an excellent player.

I'm not worthy

I purchased this player just after Christmas and have been using it on a daily basis since. I bought it on the the strength of customer reviews. Thank you all, because the minor gripes that some reviewers have had can be totally ignored when you weigh up what you are getting for your money. Brilliant piece of kit, had no problems doing everything with what it says 'on the tin'. Get it, you will not be dissapointed.

Sony lives up to its reputation

This MP3 is every bit as good as I expected from Sony. It is superb value given that it is almost half the cost of the equivalent iPod. The sound is superb with the headphones supplied, it looks class and is extremely easy to use. I have owned it for over a month now and I have only had to charge the battery twice. I use it for a minimum of 1 hour a day so I am very happy with the battery life. It is very easy to navigate and loading songs, podcasts, videos is a doddle with drag and drop. The build quality is awesome as it feels solid as a rock without being too heavy. Its so good that I have just purchased another one for my son to replace the Creative Zen that got washed in the washing machine by accident. Highly recommended.

I believe this is an ipod nano beater!

(5 out of 5) by Matt on Jan 26, 2009 (London, uk)
Well after being left frusted and disapointed with the ipod nano 4g 16gb mp3 player or should i say the software! I came across this little beauty! After going through some of the reviews on amazon I decided to take the plunge. And im so glad i purchased it. This is the best mp3 player I have had. Period!

The only con is the screen could of been a bit bigger. But as i only really want it for listening to music. It's not really a concern for me. If you want to watch videos on it, which you can do i recomend you look at another product. The abitlity to watch videos is a nice feature but its not the players main selling points.

The pro's - the sound quality is rather good!, you get 16gb of memory which is more then enough for most people. You can listen to the radio and watch videos. What i really love about this player is, that it syncs no problem with windows media player 11(my prefered music player). I do recomend you update the firmware on the player.

I prefer the controls to the ipod. It's set in the old walkman style layout but its been slightly updated!

Overal this is a real gem! I believe this is an ipod beater! Cant recomend it enough

Pleasently surprised

This is a really good product, its really slim, very very light, u barely notice it, its not as good looking as an ipod but its still quite cute.
-The sound quality is excellent, the preset equalisers arent that great but u can customise your own.
-Its very very easy to use, u dont need to read the manual, took me literally 1 min to figure out all the functions
-BUT the headphones provided r ridiculously uncomfortable and the sound terrible too, so you would definately need to buy your own.
-worth the money, i havent had it for very long, so im not sure how durable it is, im hoping very since i bought the one with sucha huge memory... n e ways 10/10
