A good Buy!

(5 out of 5) by Mrs. D. Platt on Dec 21, 2008 (Warrington, Cheshire)
After using my Samsung 1GB MP3 player (very basic pen drive style) for a couple of years, I decided that I was going to give myself a Christmas treat and get myself a new MP3 player with a bit more memory. I'm not a technophobe but I have never been interested in all the "hi tech" features that newer players have. I looked around and found the Sony NWZ-E436FB 4GB Drag & Drop MP4 Video Player with FM tuner in Black. It was a reasonable price as my Husband had bought a 2GB MP3 player for the same price 3 months back. After receiving it in the post at 9am, by 10am I had put all my songs on there. I didn't even have to look at the manual as it is so straight forward and easy to use. The display and menu system is very much like a mobile phone and very well set out. I had never used BBC iPlayer before, and after discovering that I could download and add them to the player I did so and it was very simple and ended up watching BBC's Hole in the wall in bed that evening! The one con I found with the MP3 Player is that it uses half a GB for the operating system it has which does limit the amount of music, videos and pictures that you can place on there. Apart from that issue, the MP3 player is a winner and I would highly recommend it to all that enquire!

Very Good for the Price

(4 out of 5) by P. Walsh on Oct 30, 2008 (Warwickshire, UK)
My sansa e250 kept corrupting files and as technology has moved on abit I thought I would get a new player that was roughly the same price. I was going to buy the Samsung YP-T10JCB/XEU - Touchscreen MP3 Player With Video And Bluetooth - 8Gb however I don't usually have enough songs to fill up 4GB let alone 8Gb and the sony will play BBC iPlayer programmes, so its been great on the train being able to watch back Have I Got News For You etc without needing to get the laptop out. The Good points about this mp3 player are the sound (as good as any other mp3, especially with my Sennheiser CX300 Eco Ear Canal Headphones Black). It is extremely easy to use and straight forward so no need for a manual, the quality of the screen is very good and the player is so light and thin (about 50g) its very useful to take places. The case finish is nice with a black shiny front but a matt plastic back (a good thing as there is no shiny metal to get scratched or corroded) but it is not exactly stunning in the looks department. It has 45 hours of playback and after playing Merlin on it for 45 minutes the battery meter was hardly dented and the fm radio is better than that of my old sansa. I would recommend this player for the price, ease of use (as the menus are clear and you can use drag & drop on wmp 11 to transfer songs) and functions, but if your going for style then go for the rival ipod nano

Sony Walkman

(5 out of 5) by P. Davies on Nov 10, 2008 (UK)
This is my first mp3/4 player and after reading various reviews and remembering the great build quality on my old cassette walkman I decided on the Sony.

I bought this product for the music and don't expect to upload videos or photos so can't make any comment about these functions.

I went for this model because it included a radio for basically the same price as the alternatives without.

Ease of use - not only simple but so intuitive I hardly needed to refer to the pdf manual.
Sound Quality - I can't compare against the i-pod, as I've never owned one, but the sound quality on the Sony is truly amazing. I am hearing parts of the music I don't even hear on my living room stereo.
Headphones - They are superb and at this point I'm not considering changing the bundled phones.
Looks and build quality - first class. It's small light and looks far more expensive.
Faults - It looks so good it needs a case to protect it from daily knocks but I haven't found one suitable.

Would I buy this product again? A big yes but would definitely upgrade to the 8 or even 16gig. A truly great little product.

Fantastic value for money!

(5 out of 5) by David Lomas on Jan 3, 2009 (Norwich UK)
Sony NWZ-E436FB 4GB Drag & Drop MP4 Video Player with FM tuner in Black

This really is a fantastic piece of kit. Amazing value for money, and beautifully built as well. Unlike some rather cheap plastic MP3 players I have looked at, this is solid and appears to be made of metal. The buttons and switches are all smooth and positive, and everything works well. Firstly sound quality. Excellent with the supplied headphones, plenty of rich bass and a graphic equalizer with either preset sound options or a couple of custom options to choose your own settings. The FM radio is also superb, crystal clear and doesn't break up when moving around which some players seem to do. It will search for stations, and you can preset them. The video playback on the small screen is also great. It is one of the few players on the market that can handle programmes from the BBC iplayer, so I put it to the test and tranferred several programmes to watch. It was a simple process, and was faultless to do. Playback was superb, crystal clear once you get used to looking at the small screen. My Grandson watched Wallace and Gromit under the bedclothes, and his laughter was heard well after bedtime!! It can also be used as a photo album and will store lots of jpeg photos as well. Several options to tranfer stuff to it, the supplied software worked well, but I used Real Player which was already on my PC, and that was the simplest option for me. I am really impressed with this, so much so I may even buy another one (a his and hers) Battery life is amongst the best on the market, and is easily recharged from the PC USB socket with the supplied lead. Highly recommended, and an astonishing price from Amazon for such a versatile and compact player.

Excellent product

(5 out of 5) by Pat Porter on Jan 9, 2009 (Carlisle, England)
Sony NWZ-E436FB 4GB Drag & Drop MP4 Video Player with FM tuner in Black
My Sony MP4 video player was delivered 2 days ago and it is like comparing chalk with cheese if you compare it with my old MP3 player. It is amazingly small and compact - you can hardly believe it is possible to get so much technology into such a small piece of equipment.
I particularly wanted FM radio - it tunes into all the channels automatically and the sound quality is very clear.
It was amazingly easy to drag and drop music to it and you can search it by album, singer, etc, which makes it so easy to find the music you want, unlike the old MP3.
The easiest way I have found of downloading BBC iPlayer to it is by first downloading it to your computer, then use the Sync in Windows Media Player to your Sony, open the downloaded programme in WMP and save it there, then drag it over. For me it didn't work to simply drag it from the desktop, but this is easy enough.
The controls are so easy to work and the display is bright and clear with icons so you can choose pictures, FM radio, film, music, etc.
Anyway, I am so impressed with this that I have now ordered another one for my husband who was green with envy when he saw mine!
